  1. Had a running session yesterday, as the weather was so nice. Had a problem with one of the points, Managed to sort it out tho. I think I need some kind of automatic coupling, as it's a end to end layout.
  2. Been busy so haven't had much time to do my railway lately, tho I did get a piece of wood to make a platform. Hopefully the weather will improve and I can get some more done.
  3. George the posts are well in the ground and treated and painted before I put them in, but thanks for for the advice. David c Thats my bedroom so can't go in there. Also i did cut the wood down after trying them, and will put some ties around them. Thanks for your input.
  4. Thanks to some nice sunny weather today, managed to get out into the garden and do some edging for the boards. So now reached the end of the line for now, until my neighbours put up their new fence. Then I can work out what to do and where to go with it. Also managed to run some trains today. and sort out a few minor problems.
  5. I think the most popular choice for brake van would be the BR standard brake van, to go with all the BR wagons Dapol are bringing out.
  6. As the sun was shinning I decided to have a sit in the garden, and do a bit of modelling. Cut some wood up to fit in Dapol's S R 5 plank wagon, you can't beat real wood for this. Now a question. Do you think the overhang is to long for the wagon ?

    Dapol 08

Looks good to me, did Dapol say when they would be available ?
  10. Been working on the Edging today, still have a few bits to go over and one last strip at the end. Think the height of the edging is just right, and tho it's plastic quiet strong. As with all things time will tell. I had to drill a small hole for the tacks, to stop the plastic splitting.
  11. Managed to get out for a few hours today, and had a running session. Had a few minor hick cups, but manage to sort them out. Need to get the edging done before I run the trains properly, as I don't want any accidents. If the weather is O K over the weekend I will get some of it done. My new Western region brake van arrived today so gave a run in, worked well.
  12. Managed to get out in the garden today, and wire up the last 2 Point motor switches. Also wired up one dead section switch. Had a short running session to make sure all the points were working, and pleased to say they are. Also added a plastic strip along the edge, cheap and flexible just what I wanted. Had to cut out a section for the goods shed, as it was to tight on the back line. Just need some more nails to fix it in properly. Next Job is to tidy up the wiring so it doesn't hang down so much. Roll on the better weather.
  13. I don't know how I have missed this, you would think that Dapol would say something about these items After 2 plus years. I have started a O Gauge garden railway, and would love to see some of these items out soon. Come on Dapol say something.
  14. Just decided on the one small window.
  15. Thanks for the advice, I will be going to my local DIY shop to have a look for something suitable soon. Did a bit more to the goods shed, think i need a small window to the left.
  16. Hi Mezzoman I will be adding a higher edge along all the layout, just got to find something suitable. I did start putting a edge up but I now see it is to small. Thanks for the advice anyway.
  17. While I have been waiting for the weather to improve I decided to start on my first building, so I used some odd bits of wood to construct a small goods shed. I am keeping it simple, but will add detail as I go.
  18. I have managed to put another board in, tho I had to trim the bush a bit. I also laid a bit more track, and tested it. I now need some nice warm weather to get out and tidy things up the garden a bit before going any further.
  19. Dapol could go for a different wheel arrangement and do 14xx, Tho this limits it to the GWR/Western region. Other wheel arrangements are available :-)
  20. So after Putting the pallet fence up in the corner and a slight trim, I got on with the track boards. I managed to miss the roots of the tree, and put a post in and another board. I laid some more track including a point. Wired it all up and tried running a train up and down. All was working well. All this was done in between rainy days, which is so frustrating when you just want to get on.

    Dapol 08

Has there been any painted samples yet of the 08 ?
  23. The next problem was the corner of the garden, a bit over run and in need of some TLC. I needed a short bit of fence so I adapted a pallet to fit the gap. A coat of stain, and fixed it in place. All this was done in between rainy days, so took a while. The more I get done in the winter months, the more time I will have in the spring to enjoy my railway.
  24. I should imagine Dapol are working on future releases, but as you say Kev not until they are well under way. so a case of watch this space...
