Best to date after only two shows seems a bit of an iffy statement! But I don't want to take anything away from what was a very good show (and yes, better than last year and last year was good too).

Definitely one of the most pleasant locations for a show as well.

You may take that to infer that 24 will be better than 23. As it will be!

    Cheers to all our supporters.

Confess I gave it a skip.  A drive to Buxton (from Birmingham) only washes its face if you can go on to do something else - a walk in my case.  Sadly rain and 40mph winds ruled that out.  I would be interested in what the poor weather did for attendance.  Last year was wonderful.

We were up on 22 cheers, by far our best show to date and we were very pleased. No sitting on the lorells etc so website updated and we will be revealing our 24 content in a few months with some great things in the pipeline.

  3. We took the View to give all exhibitors at Buxton a lapel badge as thier id whilst at the show and as a memento of their visit. These can then be used as layout badges if desired and ensure that everyone who contributed gets duly recognised not just the layouts.

Lots of suppliers if you search online for these, we used stickermule in 22 and found them excellent.

    Cheers

Just found this on the web

Strike action scheduled for Avanti West Coast services on Sunday 2nd July 2023 has been cancelled. As a result, Avanti West Coast will run their planned timetable on this date. on the https://www.thetrainline.com/trains/great-britain/industrial-action site

    Cheers

Good news for people attending the show, just have to hope its not cost folk more in accommodation. It has us as we had to get the best deal we could so booked the extra sunday nights as non refundable!

    Frustrating..but we carry on

Just counting our accumulative £1 pound coin collection ready for the weekend. If anyone is paying by cash some change is always appreciated at ours or at any show.

    Cheers

  5. With less than a week to go now were readying the shows kit for an early start friday. We've not heard of any changes so were feeling confident that the content will be that listed above.

Although we don't open until 9.30 am on Saturday  we are going to start taking payments and wristbanding from 9.00am so those who've arrived early can then walk straight in as doors open at 9.30am, saving the long quee to pay we were delighted but mindful of last year.

Same price etc it just speeds up getting you in and allows us to reduce the pressures upon the doorstaff on opening.

    Cheers

  6. In light of the recently announced strike action on Avanti main line services between London and Scotland we have made arrangements for any exhibitors affected by the Sunday 2nd July strike to stay over Sunday eve and return Monday am.

Frankly this is an expense too far for events like us which will affect our finances going forwards and certainly won't get the rail workers striking any sympathy from those affected.

Fortunately all local and cross country rail services remain unaffected at this time so visitors travelling to Buxton on the sat or sun should be ok.

We hope those visitors coming from further afield that have booked train tickets and accommodation over the weekend can still attend and this doesn't detract from or greatly increase the cost of their visit to the town or our show.

    Safe journeys to you all

  8. A few more images of last weekend.

We now know we did better than we'd dared to hope for a first show in a new venue and town. A lot has been learned from staging a show in this unique setting and we will be implementing this into the next show.

We're well on with plans for 23 with over 20 layouts already pencilled in and significant trade and society support promised.

On behalf of the 'freinds of Railex Buxton'; a huge thankyou to all who took part and to those from the hobby that supported us and the traders.

  10. Is it morning...ughhh

finished a very long day late yesterday by cleaning the wheels on Bodmins clay trains.

Bringing Ray in his long years and Bodmin to Buxton was easy in talk as its great. But its taking a herculean effort by a host of guys to get them both there. But its gonna be worth it to see this n gauge masterpiece running under his own hand once more. To me as a fellow small scale modeller this alone is worth the visit and realistically, knowing the effort it's taking to achieve it.. it'll likely be its last outing so even more of a reason to go.

A safe journey to you all today

    Cheers mark

  12. Railway modelling returns to Buxton after a long absence, with our new show in the rebuilt 'Octagon' of the Pavilion Gardens. This unique 27 acre venue will we hope make for a great backdrop to our model railway exhibition, amidst the Derbyshire Spa town of Buxton and its wide range of visitor facilities.

We'll  annually have at least 20 quality layouts in as good a mix of scales and gauges as we can muster, supported by 20+ traders and an array of societies and individuals demonstrating the endless possibilities this great hobby suggests.

Buxton is well served by public transport and accomodation to allow you an enjoyable day or weekend visit.

  13. We thoroughly enjoyed being back out again this weekend.. even waiting an age for a certain trader too release his table cloths on Sunday eve didn't dampen our spirits. Thanks to John and his team for making it such an enjoyable weekend.  I even managed to get some more sleepers stuck down between the many catchups and explanations.

Cheers for the mention Barry.. to be specific I work in 148th scale not 152nd. :-) it may seem like a small thing to a 7mm man like yourself lol but 8.01% by volume is a lot in my world lol.

Looking forwards to getting out on the circuit after such a long time talking to myself at the bench!

Hopefully you'll be well supported by the public.

  15. Mine arrived on Monday by tracked royal mail.

Having looked at it and run it now I'm very pleased I supported this model by coughing up in full and in advance. Its one of the finest rtr 148th scale locos I've seen to date.

Was it worth the wait?... yes

Was it worth the confusion of delivery dates and general lack of communication over many years?.. no

Would I pay in advance again?.. I'd have to see how sonic fair in communicating thier next products release?

Will i be getting another 56xx this time via rails?.. definitely.

On a final note.. once again I hold my head in my hands at the fact that nobody has still had the nounce to do a gwr mogul in n. One of the most go anywhere do anything locos which worked right up to the end of steam?... come on guys!
