  1. Having had an 00 gauge layout some years ago which has been sold I am now planning an n gauge layout.I still have the controllers from the 00 layout and am wondering if these will be suitable to operate the n gauge.

The controllers are the following, H&M Clipper and OnTrack MPC 3/2.

I have heard in the past that n gauge require a different controller to 00, any advice would be welcome.

  2. Some will hate me for saying this, but I personally don't think the Blue Pullman belongs in a glass cabinet/plastic tube. If it was me, I would be building a diorama of the countryside or the main line as long as the six car train. Just making a suggestion!

I’m in the process of selling my model railway after many years which was a difficult decision to make.

My plan is to keep several locomotives including the Blue Pullman set and whilst I have several Picture Pride cabinets for smaller items I would like to find a suitable one that will accommodate the BP.

  3. The Picture Pride display cases are the best around in my humble opinion.

They have given me years of hassle & DUST free operation, and have never faded, nor fallen apart.

I'm sure that if you give Ron or his lovely wife a call and explain your requirements, they would be sure to provide your cabinet as soon as possible.

They really are very helpful and a pleasure to deal with.

No connection etc, other than a very happy customer indeed.

Your Blue Pullman would look stunning, mounted on lengths of track in a wall mounted display case.

    Cheers, Paul

Thanks Paul and everyone else, yes I have three PP cabinets already which display 1/76 scale buses so I think these may be the people to contact again.

  4. I am looking for a wall mounted display cabinet for my 6 car set, does anyone know of a manufacture for such.

I have checked on Picture Pride’s site but they don’t appear to have an off the shelf one although I know they make to order.

Cabinet only needs to be large enough for this unit.

Thanks in advance for any information.

  5. Hi guys,

These are in production and I'm hoping for pictures showing this sometime later this week.

Once they are ready to ship I'll post here and on my web site, plus send some press releases out, and also mention the ship so you can follow it to Blighty.

This is for Crowdfunded models only as the retail ones to Hattons / Kernow are pending as well, but may or may not be subject to a different delivery time.

    Hope this helps

    Cheers

    Dave

Great new Dave, thanks for the update.

  6. I see that the Mac Fisheries version is now available from Harburn Hobbies, still on the same conflat as the Birds Eye one.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned on another thread.

  7. I have replaced the wheels today with the ones with tyres on and what a difference,I was a little concerned that over time the motor's might bun out as the 4 car set seemed to struggle especially on curves and a very slight incline.

If anyone is interested in doing the same and you are not too sure what to do have a look at Budgie's post 446 above, and follow that,it took me about 5 mins to change both cars,no need to dismantle the whole unit as recommended by Bachmann when `I spoke to their technical dept.

  8. I've just opened the boxes and got my S8 running. Changing the axle to the one with traction tyres, and installing the decoders were simple. I'm beginning to wish I had bought a couple of lighting sets from Train-Tech on Saturday.

Incidentally, I was wondering what address people who have chipped their S-class have used. I used 8788, because the model is of cars with running numbers ending in 87 and 88.

Im looking at changing the wheel sets to the ones with the tyres, was it easy to do,i have never done anything like this before.

  9. I'm curious as to who is buying these sets

    / collectors

/ people who travel on these things

/ people who have LT layouts ?

My feeling is that buyers possibly fall into two categories, those who like myself have an interest in London Underground and have been waiting a long time for RTR Underground stock, and those who are ardent LT collector's and will probably do no more than have the set displayed in a case.

Whist i have not ordered a set yet I do intend to acquire one although my layout is anything but LT,apart from several Bachmann LT Panniers, the LT150 Prairie, and the two Class 20's released by the LTM a couple of years ago.

  10. I'm more than happy with the Hornby (ex Airfix GMR etc) that I picked up on eBay for less than £10 last year, yes it might not be as detailed as the Bachmann one,but suits my needs. If and when the Bachmann one becomes available at a more realistic price then I may just consider buying one.

  11. Given Bachmann's recent policy of announcing wagons' in one livery and delivering them in a completely different one - see Grain wagons thread, I'm banking on this release turning up as a Reverse Grey / Blue liveried one...............................

Now that is wishful thinking !

  12. This is a pure guess on my part, assuming there are still many Yellow ended sets around what would the possibility be of Bachmann producing the two end cars in Nanking  with Crest as a set,at least this way those who wanted a complete blue set could obtain one this way by buying a yellow ended six car set, and then the two blue car set.....just a thought!
