  1. both!

i bought the red one from them in august and they said they had no more white ones left and i really want one....

off to look on the website or give the shop a call later

edit: nothing showing on the website, will call the shop later

Did you check both downstairs, and upstairs as Im almost certain they had both on display downstairs when most of the models both rail and buses are upstairs.

Not wanting to knock the staff in the LTM I have often asked about certain books that have recently been published and told they don't  have them only to find them when i have then looked myself. The best person to check with on models is Mike Wilson.

  2. Interestingly, I asked the London Transport Museum if they would be doing these, considering the GBRf ones sponcer the museum. They said it was an excellent idea, but due to financial constrains they were watching how the Class 20s sold first. I bough both 20s to help them. Hopefully all sold out now and a lot of us as emailing the museum requesting the Tube 66s, as then they might just commission them!

Two weeks ago there was still plenty of both class 20 models available at the LTM.

  3. Not quite the Corgi Swansea plant was closed by Mattel moving production to China. Oxford Diecast a new company bought the Swansea plant or part of the plant and carried on making die cast models initially mainly for the tourist market and jobbing die cast parts for other industries.

Not sure what you mean by plastic moulds? Oxford Diecast models have metal bodies.

Oxford Diecast are now using injection moulding for some main parts on some of their models, the coaches released over the last 12 months have a plastic upper body part, and I think some of the lorry models also.

  4. .

I'm somewhat confused as to why there isn't a single "Southern"  themed train set or train pack in the recent announcements.

    .

I'm sure that Bachmann are' testing the water' with these initial packs, and if successful will consider releasing more at a later date.

  5. Popped into the LT Museum this morning, told them that they had a couple of locos for me under the counter and bingo, there they were all labled up and ready for collection. Just as promised. The saving on postage more-or-less covered my £10.65 Web Super OffPeak return ticket from Folkestone :boast: .

Had a word with the shop manager about future releases and, with a smile on his face, he said expect a "significant" announcement........

On the way up to London saw the white LT Map Cl.66 parked in one of the middle roads at Tonbridge Station - it looked well and truly grotty, well weather-stained.

Could 66721 be the next release from the LTM,my guess is it probably will be..

  6. My original post was in the Bachmann Collectors Club models thread, but I thought an update as a separate topic may be helpful.

I spoke with the London Transport Museum shop this morning to enquire about progress with their two Limited Editions 20189 and 20227, since they were expected to be available to pre-order this month but there is no reference to them on the LTM website. Apparently both Class 20s have been delayed and the lady I spoke to suggested I check the LTM Collectors Club website http://www.ltmuseumshop.co.uk/collectors-club.html again in early November.

If you want more positive information try and speak to Michael Wilson at the LTM,he deals with all the commisioned models that they sell.I know he was looking after the Bachmann Prairie that was commisioned for the 150 celebration earlier this year so guess he will be doing the same for the 20's.

  7. Hmm, not convinced the elephants came in those horseboxes. Especially as there seems to be a glimpse of a GWR high roofed vehicle (Giant/Monster?) in the foreground which were well known for transporting elephants.

    Chris

If you look at the box on the right it appears that there is an elephant in it,looks like its head and trunk are just visable........or is it my eye's!

  8. I suspect it will be perfectly possible to run two powered sets together without problems. Haven't tried it with Hornby units but I can easily run two Bachmann 4-CEPs and an MLV (That's THREE power units) and they run together beautifully on analog DC (with an ancient H&M controller, too!)

    CHRIS LEIGH

It was more a question of cost rather than the units not running together,as surely a pair of unpowered would be little more than a pair of coaches in cost.

4,6,and 8 car sets then become a possibility.

  9. If anyone is still looking for the 3 Birds Eye conflat/ container set and going to Warley tomorrow it may be worth a visit to TMC stand as they had several sets there today.I just happened to ask if they planned to do a second run of these and it turned out they had found more stock when getting ready for the show.

At £39.99 not cheap, but they do look nice when running in a complete train.

  10. My SR two pack arrived yesterday and these were ordered when they were first announced ( can't remember when that was). They really are nice models and look good running with the recent Hornby Horseboxes

The TMC Birdseye conflat set that I ordered came about 2 weeks after it first appeared on this site that they had been released.

Maybe TMC despatch the orders in rotation of customers placing their order with them.

I pre-ordered one in May but haven't had any communication from them yet :sad_mini: how long should I leave it before contacting them, or just ordering it from their website?

  11. I just happened to look through the current copy of the' Great Western Railway Journal',Spring 2012 magazine in WHS today and there is an interesting article on these horseboxes with quite a selection of photographs.

    Pete.

  12. If you look on their web site under Terms and Conditions,Prices and Procedures,5.4,I think they have themselves covered with this increase. All I can say is that it would have been good if their custom service dept had contact customers who had ordered these to see if they still wished to purchase them.

  13.

I sent my lumpy NSE version back to Hornby. The arrangement of the traction tyres has been changed to a diagonal arrangement and it is now a good runner. I didn't mark the carriage before sending it back so I don't know if they changed the bogie or the whole carriage, it certainly came back very quickly. Back at the end of October I spoke to Simon Kohler at the NRM and he seemed to indicate that it would be easy for them to change the solid compartment moulding. Maybe they will slip them in later, they seem to have a very different policy to Bachmann. I recall that the smoke box door of the original Merchant Navies was corrected and then became available (but only if you were in the know), and the pullman bogies were also changed without much publicity. I sent all mine back to Hornby for replacement, it must have kept their engineer busy for days! My experience of dealing with the public would suggest that when you, or your organisation, make a mistake, put your hands up as soon as possible and try and put it right. Hornby seem to find that difficult. Its a great pity.

    Godfrey

So here's the simple answer guy's,and gal's,SEND IT BACK TO Hornby,I'm sure if Hornby are inundated with returns they will hopefully put thing right and maybe possibly stop similar events happening with the BB.

  14.

I see a battle looming! I reckon that the cost of the Blue Pullman and the 5-BEL Brighton Belle, will prevent many from buying both

so I reckon that the ffirst to appear on the market will gain the lion's share of sales ( well initially anyway).

But even if the 5 BEL arrives first unless there is specific info from Hornby indicating that it is far superior mechanically to the VEP I reckon many will hold back on purchasing, I know that some retailers have had cancelled pre-0rders, and as a result reduced their orders for the 5 BEL

I for one cancelled my order with Hattons this week for the BB and ordered the BP instead.Hopefully the BB will be a better model than the VEP(from what I have read) but I'm not prepared to take any chances untill it has arrived and there is some positive feedback

  15. On the subject of Fishing weights Ask for SEA FISHING Weights!! These are apparently heavier (LEAD) than freshwater ones where lead is illegal so I am told.

Sea fishing weights come in various weights, and are easy to cut and 'pound' into shape But please note lead is poisonous wash hands after use and also be careful when cutting and shaping, wear protective eye goggles if poss!! ( its the health & safety you know)

I have used these weights for many years!

Also another source of weights is shops that sell items for domestic curtains, they usually stock weights which are approx 4" x 2" which are intended to be used in curtain hems to make them hang 'nicely' these too are easily cut into required sizes!!

Just for the record!! I have no interest in fishing or sewing curtains !!

So there's no truth that you sew fishing nets in your spare time!
