The gold lettering is particularly effective BTW, lovely work and the yellow pages ad certainly 'dates' the scene just as you require

More run of the mill out the box tweaking and enhancing rather than anything major.

EFE class 17, lowered and front buffer beam detailed which was a challenge to say the least but got there in the end.

Some gentle weathering also applied here but not hugely visible in these pictures

nice work, I always think the WR signal boxs are strong part of the lines identity and this will certainly fit the bill.

60011 is an interesting one as I think I've seen her with black, red and blue plates all whilst in late crest BR green. I did an N gauge version of the loco and opted for the blue plates. I say think as pictures from that era I guess can be difficult to interpret.

Looks great and I enjoyed the video as well. I like when things don't quite go to plan, like the rocks in the river, and the point activation rod going through the pavement and you just wing it and it always works out perfectly for you!!

lovely grotty pictures, both real and model.  I think I've said it before on this thread but I really like the way you've done the groundwork in the shed area. Not always easy to do either I think.

Here's the first of two vac fitted Boplates, still awaiting the N Brass handbrake wheels to be added.  I also added N Brass oval buffers which are considerably finer to the eye than the moulded ones that come with the kit. Coupling hooks again added.

Again not particularly exciting but I think it shows that a decent wagon can be had in N gauge using the society kits and at a sensible price. I'm finding it ever harder to stomach the cost of even things like wagons these days (as good as they tend to be)  and there's a lot of pleasure to be had from doing your own.

After seeing the unfitted Boplate posted above I decided to revisit the weathering. Any pictures I can see of boplates or similar wagons tend to show them as being absolutely grotty in condition and as such I thought mines looked a tad too fresh.

Not a huge difference but just adding some filth (brown vallejo model wash) around the body mouldings I think brings it down another notch.

Also added coupling hooks which are absent from the original kit.

Knew I had some loco projects done somewhere, managed to tidy up a fairly standard Dapol A3 into 60090 Grand Parade to suit the Edinburgh scene, only major addition was the double chimney and rework the front bufferbeam to get rid of the shape issue on bottom which accomodates the coupler normally.

Added the smokebox brass plate thing which came with the nameplates from Fiox, which I think is a nice addition.

Still got to get round to painting the Modelu crew figures to populate the cab, and possibly find something to put in for draincocks, NBrass wire perhaps?

The last couple of pictures here have been superb, real top drawer stuff and all from different sources, great work guys

Also been doing again from the N gauge society some boplate's both unfitted and vac braked.

Here's the unfitted one, tried to get a nice weathered deck look which to my eye would be as much a grey/silver colour as it would be a wood colour.

I used a Tamiya deck colour followed by dry brushing a light grey and also some brown and black washes as well.

Not sure the picture does it justice as in reality it looks more grey than the beige it appears in the picture  but in general I am happy with the outcome.

Not hugely revolutionary but some wagon projects been on the go.

3 x vanwides from the N gauge society and given the rising costs for off the shelf models a good way to build up wagon rakes.

Track is weathered beautifully I have to say as well.

The disappearing road into the background is really effective when you see it photographed with the building included. Very clever thinking IMHO.

ah great stuff Richard, very envious of the layout now.

I've also been building brown vans from the NGS, but mines went straight to 'worn' state!! I think vans are like 16tonners in that the variation in colours in both the van sides and roofs is almost unbelievable.

Like the CCT in the consist as well

quite superb as always, but in particular I really like the use of colours here, just absolutely perfect, nothing too garish or incorrect.

would be remiss of me not to say I was thoroughly enjoying these MH pictures. Right in my era as well. I'm hoping there might be a cameo appearance of a me on my grifter initially then ultimately an upgrade to a racer (wooo).

Back in those days shed access was not a problem, generally always politely requested up the road first and we would be allowed down to see what was on shed.

lovely work as always Graeme, I don't know how you've got the fortitude for such a task. I'd be done after just one of your buildings such is the detail.

The overall effect is superb though and well worth your efforts.

To be honest I lost some of the definition on the nose due to the amount of filling and smoothing that I ended up doing but overall it worked out OK I think.

Totally agree, I have a thing about RTR out the box numbers. Nothing wrong with it of course but I just prefer a different identity.

I converted one of my farish peaks into a split box job which I'm hoping elevates it into the same category as your 44, although split box peaks were far from unusual but they are in N gauge!!
