As requested by MRDBLUE17, a couple of 37 videos (so you know who to blame!). I tried moving the camera further back and zooming in to avoid the sound crackling too much this time, Its better (a bit!) First up 37 412 starting up and 'gently' departing on a Speedlink for Mossend. Mostly consisting of sounds from Tony Molyneux with a couple of additions by me! There is an alternate version which takes a lot longer to reach 'thrash' which is normally on 178 which I can't video at the moment. - http://www.youtube.com/user/macrat26#p/a/u/1/coLP7Y7BdL0 Next here's 412 again this time 'thrashing' away on passenger. Same program just driven harder. The driver is having a play on the horns to show off! - http://www.youtube.com/user/macrat26#p/a/u/0/BMKnKb4M1fU The reason I can't video 178 with the longer take up of power is because its got this program in it at the moment on trail. Built up from the sounds on Pauliebangers Zimo tutorial on Sat afternoon, they sound pretty good coming out of a Lok 3.5 too! I suspect these sounds too are Tony's, I could only fit half of them on the chip. One powering away clip is 21 seconds long! - http://www.youtube.com/user/macrat26#p/a/u/2/BfiNRoyptDQ Still needs a bit of 'polishing' but I think it will find its way onto 37 033 when it arrives. kev. Cheers guys, I'm just waiting to see Ians. He took almost the same shot from the other side of the room with a ''huge'' telephoto to get more depth of field! kev.

As alluded to above, spent (all day!) yesterday at the clubrooms with our Exhibition Manager and all round ''gadget man'' Ian taking lots of photos of Loch Dour. Well, Ian took loads, I took 38, and most of them were c**p! I did get one of the man himself at work surrounded by lights - And as a matter of scale - Frightened the life out of me when he had that great lump wrapped around my co-acting signal! Here's a couple of my attempts - Hopefully Ian's are better, , kev. Website - Http://lochdour.webs.com/

Thanks for the kind words guys (except wardog, I didn't need reminding of the time we had to kip in a freezing cold clubrooms in the depths of winter, waiting for a missing ''Boldon'' to appear out of the fog! ) We had a good time at the show, (although I didn't get a Zimo chip!) as well as riding around on London's trains in the evenings, including a thrash to Gravesend and back in a ''Javelin.'' The layout seemed to perform apart from a couple of niggles, easily sorted. Except for the 101 unit on Sat afternoon which decided to derail in one direction, it runs back and forth fine all year at home! As for photo's, the layout is now at the clubrooms for a ''photo shoot'' for a magazine article, if they except it that is! I'll take some new shots then, while Ian has all his lights and stuff set up. kev. Website - Http://lochdour.webs.com/
  7. fell down the stairs onto his big toe! It now looks like an over ripe banana. So glad I'm not the driver to London tomos!

Loch Dour is all packed up ready for its long trip South to ''ally pally'' after a few little tidying up jobs and fitting the end transportation boards to the new ''L'' baseboards. The 80's fleet is all serviced ready, and now I've stopped playing with the 70's fleet, I can clean them! A slight worry over our usual hire van/rocket ship during the week, after our Swiss boys broke it on the way back from Narrow Gauge North last weekend They finally got home on the back of a recovery truck! Luckily the garage has been able to fix it. The usual 70's Saturday, 80's Sunday is the running order for next weekend. See you there, kev. Website - Http://lochdour.webs.com/
  9. looking good mark, I think you can consider it invited ''home'' when you finish it! kev.
  10. Welcome to rmweb. That phot of 142 looks strangely familiar!

  11. Glad this is for inspired and not favorite layouts, I never could have pinned it down to three! After some soul searching the three that inspired me, in order of appearance - Liverpool to Ainsdale - In the modeller in the 70's and it was diesels! Inspired me to start looking at how to improve my models, not just run them! High Gill – The Riverside clubs layout appeared at Wigan just as we were finishing the original Boldon Junction. Better catenary (and stock!) than ours, and it beat us onto the show circuit! We carried on regardless but is probably what pushed us to an urban setting in later incarnations! Filisur – Again seen at Wigan, completely unwieldy to transport by all accounts but gorgeous! Started a love of the RHB, now sadly waned in activity, but still the first layout that made me want to visit somewhere ''foreign''! kev.

24 090's chassis is detailed up and back together again temporally (It'll need to come apart again for painting) so I could give it a good ''thrashing'' and make sure none of the new details get in the way. Does look weird with no buffers on though! Heres both sides - I'd forgotten how well the bass speaker brings out the SWD/Bachmann sounds though. I have a program waiting to re-blow it, but now I'm not too sure I want to! If it wasn't for the loco's annoying habit of revving up when you don't want it too, the decision would be made, as it is I'll have to try a comparison test after ''Ally Pally'' and chew it over! No rush, I'll make a start on the body. I should really be making a start on wheel cleaning but I'm ''in the groove''! Thats all for now. kev. Website - Http://lochdour.webs.com/

Looks like an update is long overdue, there seems to be plenty of people waiting for one! If I see Andrew I'll give him a prod! The alternative route may be the owners of the MTK moulds (No Nonsense Kits?). kev.

Just for MRDBLUE17, the 156 under-bits(is that a word?) Sorry for the wait Mark but my internets been down - Of course not being able to get on here means I've got some modelling done! 24 090 chassis and tanks have been cut and filed until I got rid of the unwanted details, so I've now started to rebuild them with the wanted/replacement detailing - Yes the tanks are full of lead, It will need it on my gradients! As you can see a small amount of metal has also been removed to allow the fitting of the new speaker. Nothing done to the body yet apart from the fitting of the bufferbeam valences and removing the cab widows (now trashed! does Shawplan do laser etched ones for a 24?) and windscreen wipers (only one trashed!) kev. Thanks Scott. Its got some lumps of white metal pretending to be the original style obstacle deflectors but they don't stand out much. They didn't paint them yellow in the old days! Anybody make a decent plough for them now? kev.

Hi mark. I'll take some pictures of the underneath of the dummy car, should give you an idea of the work involved. This one was done using the engine castings from an MTK ( ) 155 kit (The rest went in the bin years ago!) But you'll have to talk nicely to Andrew Hurst now to get his detailing kit back into production. I know of a few people waiting for it! kev

Now then, what's this pile of plastic 'shite' doing sullying Loch Dours trackwork? - I was determined not to start 24 090 until I'd finished this and got it off the workbench. A 20+ year old Lima 156 fitted with a 10 year old Bachmann 158 chassis, directional lighting and two Lenz silver decoders! (although the tail lights aren't as bright as they look in this picture! ) Not due to be a regular runner at shows, its more for Coppell use, but it might get a few runs at home when it gets a soundchip in it. Now thats out of the way the 24 has been reduced to a kit of parts and the plastic sub chassis cut into five pieces, not including the bits that ended up in the bin and the end of my finger! The marked area on the chassis block is the metal to be removed for the bass speaker.- Thats all for now, Kev. Website - Http://lochdour.webs.com/

Its been a while since the last update but the latest arrival in brown paper & string has arrived (sorry John!) - Destined to become 24 090 in battered BR green as in these pictures - http://www.railphoto...g=0934000060000 http://www.derbysulz...90doncaster.jpg Although I have two 24's available for shows, 009 & 147 courtesy of other FMRC members I really fancied one myself! The main work is going to be the chassis which on the real thing is part stripped of its valences which makes neither of the Bachmann variants suitable! So theres nowt to it but to cut up this one and scratchbuild the bits in between. The under cab bits will be fitted to the body to remove the joint line. Other than that its plate up the handhold's, cut some chassis out to fit a 20x40 bass-enhanced under the fan (on the other two its in the tanks, but - ) and chop up the tanks to model the cut down versions. Oh and full yellow ends, a partial repaint & renumber! kev. Website - Http://lochdour.webs.com/
  22. I've just spent ages hacking up a Lima 156 to shoehorn in a Bachman 158 chassis. Now i'm wondering why I started!

Hi Peter. Its (very) loosely based on Glen Douglas box. But I built it rectangular rather than square. It fits the site better that way (and it meant I could use the roof and windows from a Ratio MR box kit!) There's a couple of pics here - http://www.railbrit.co.uk/location.php?loc=Glen%20Douglas HTH, kev.
