  1. The encapsulated brass give the desired strength but the cross girders are made of plastic which tends to flex. I have glued some waste brass from an old etch to the insides of some of the plastic girders. That seams to have done the trick A
  2. Finally, apply the rivits as required. I have painted the whole bridge deck with primer and then matt black but until I have weathered the bridge the photo's don't do the rivits justice
  3. So cutting either side of the embossed rivits gives me a self adhesive strip of rivits
  4. OK the test worked. So I use a tool a purchased a while ago at a craft shop. Dont know what it is meant to do but when you roll it over the back of the tape they emboss rivits at about 1 every 3 scale inches. Andy
  5. Hi I have been having problems with the RMweb image editor where I resize stuff. So I am using a different piece of software, so this is a trial.. This is Aluminium tape - self adhesive tape made of Aluminium which I am going to use for riviting.... The product is designed for ducting and ventilation systems as the aluminium forms a vapour barrier. Andy
  6. Yes , it is a brown Bachmann model. I was going to fit AJ because my 24.5 tonners will be three links with the two outer wagons bearing AJ's, trust that is OK.... Tell me to go 3 link throughout and I will be a happy man but I know we have locos to couple with. Andy
  7. Its like find the lady.... Are they 6 brake vans or the same three in a different order Andy
  8. Hi Geoff took the tunnel board off me just before Christmas as he needed somewhere to lay track... That means he has crossed both of the viaducts with track and is heading for the skew bridge. The abutments are largely done and if you were paying attention earlier the bassis for the two main plate girders were cut. In fact they were laminated or is it encapsulated. I dont know, but a piece of 1/2 brass is trapped inside three layers of plastic. This is to ensure the span has some strength. All I had to do was provide the girder with the necessary ribbing and rivit work. Photos to follow (whilst I resize my pics A
  9. Thanks Mark I will pull together a new year shopping list, let me know if you want to add anything. Andy
  10. Mark Santa bought me four Bogie bolsters as we discussed: With the two I have that makes six... Where do I need to get: 1 the correct brake gear 2 The counterbalanced Alex Jackson couplings. Did we agree we would put AJ's on every wagon (Not paired up with three links) Andy
  11. Although I was only about 10 in the period there are a few ad / public campaigns I remember although what made its way onto bill boards I am not sure. I think we were backing britain - buy british We were going to work on an egg and I can remember an Hard boiled egg in a cup Whach out there was a humphrey about - little red and white straws that would drink any milk the blue tits had left Frank Muir was a deffinate fruit and nut case and some bird was always on the telly eating flake One thing I do remember on bill boards was Lambs Navy Rum with a rather scantily clad girl on a beach What about follow the bear- heineken, and when were we telling Sid ? I have found a number when viewing pictures of buses. There seams a number of flicker contributers that have shots with bill boards in the back ground . cant find away to link them or even replicate the search but they are in there somewhere Andy
  12. If you have cut that old acrh into Wills sheet, I take my hat off to you A
  13. I love it when a plan comes together, it looks a lot more than the sum of the parts Andy
  14. If i am looking at the right pictures, the upper windows have been reduced in height from the bottom with a different brick design to the main building.... Is that what we are debating ? Andy
  15. I also feel it is flemish bond and what you are seeing is the quarter and three quarter bricks required to finish the uprights level.. Andy
  16. The viaduct was not fitted without a fight... Geoff has been wrestling with the structure for a couple of days. The main pillars are failrly substancial with a core of softwood but the one nearest the board joint is just 6mm of MDF some plastic cladding, filler and a 2 -3 mm void. The idea is that the viaduct sits within the wingwalls just overlapping the edge of the board. Geoffs solution involved recessing some angle brakets into the base board and the using 2mm hardwood packers running the full height up to the track bed araldited the lot to within an inch of its life..... More mods were required to the next boards approach to maintan the correct gradiaents. Its there now
  17. Queing in traffic this morning between Heath Town and Fallings wood I sat behind a flat backed lorry with about six steel stillages on it... painted Blue with the company's name stensilled on it. some things don't change Andy
  18. If it helps, my first vehicle was a ford escort MK1 VAN. L reg.... 50miles per hour max. The back doors didn't lock so I had to reverse into walls for security reasons when parking. I had one mirror only on the off side wing. does that help Andy
  19. I have some ridge tiles in the wills set of gutters, chimneys etc let me know if yo are intrested and I will measure A
  20. I can't believe you have said that !! off for a sulk ! A
  21. I only asked because it looked good.... couldn't imagine how a brass roof would work
  22. There is nothing wrong with showing a bit of skrim... its after the watershed. I did get a shot but then realised that Geoffs piercing saw was between the bridges but if you don't mind that... This is from the back of the layout looking under the industrial line at the main line and Geoffs quick drying varnish and a pack of very old grout....
  23. If i'm not mistaken that is photographed in you lower orchard !! What is the roof ? is it plastic (wills) It look great. Andy
  24. Pressure was on.... Geoff was running out of places to lay track. The Three sidings and those junctions had slowed him down but once clear of board 4 (That is the third scenic board from the right when viewed from the front) he was down to the double track main line and the industrial line all with No turnouts). He needed the viaduct. I negotiated the weekend to paint it and delivered it tonight. the stone work still needs weathering and the wall ties need Knocking down with some llight grey but its there. Geoff will start laying track over it immenently and probably grummbling its not as flat s he would like. Either way. I need to crack on with that skew bridge - he's on my tail....
  25. Love it... Sorry if it has been covered elsewhere, which window is the managers office Andy
