  1. More details of the diesel gala.   Traction list the active loco, rolling stock is the train, this may include locos being towed unpowered to get them positioned ready for their turn.   Creepy, 43 and Feanor can supply and control air brakes for passenger trains.

  2. You probably need to remap functions not move sounds between slots - haven’t done this on Loksound but have on Zimo decoders using DecoderPro…….

  3. We are holding a Diesel Gala - but PeterPan will also be in action.

Leighton Buzzard Narrow Gauge Railway has a large collection of internal combustion powered locos as well as one battery loco.   We usually aim to just run steam trains on our operating days - the air-brake fitted diesels are usually on standby in case of a kettle failing.

Link to the website page below - more details when published - the plan is to form three passenger sets from the usual two so an intensive service.  More details when they become available.

Successfully updated 3 x DR5000 to 3 x YD7001 this evening though one was a pain in the backside and didn’t want to upgrade, but managed to make it do it in the end.

Two back with very happy owners and the third is still on the bench - I am wondering if I should make an offer to the owner as I know he only plans to sell it on eBay. it would be useful as a bench system and backup for the Z21 - decisions 😂

You can never have too much LocoNet gear!

  6. My first one has now been tested - could run trains and program from LocoNet throttle - connected to home WiFi -  connected to JMRI over WiFi and could program from there - also LocoNet monitor was displaying messages - connected iPad to WiThrottle….

    So all very successful!

  7. My two YD9401 modules arrived this morning - waiting for activation key for first one.

    I picked up a Digikeijs bundle on eBay (2 x DR5000 and 4 x DR5088RC) - it was the DR5088RC units that I was looking for.   I have a use for one DR5000/YD7001…..

  8. I have quite a few locos with Zimo sound decoders in them - I have remapped sounds to get them on easily accessible buttons - horns and whistles, brakes, drain cocks, fireman shovelling, blowers and injectors on steam locos -  try to standardise sounds and functions to specific buttons - sound on/off F1, brakes F2, horns and whistles on F3 and F4 and so on…..

OK, difference of experience around TCS.  The full-feature WiThrottle server in JMRI also runs on small devices, such as Raspberry PIs.   The problem is the minimum-feature WiThrottle servers which some other DCC system makers sell.

I too like the Daisy 2.   It does have its own slight annoyances, such as grouping functions in eights (rather than tens), stopping at F24 for the icon presentation of functions, and being Uhlenbrock there are subtle differences to Digitrax loconet (the way status editing works for speed steps, the way programming commands work, etc. which means some features don't work when used on non-Uhlenbrock systems.).    And my experience with Uhlenbrock tech support hasn't been great, which is a shame as its a nice device.

Another vote for the Daisy 2.  I only use functions F0 - F8 remapping the ones that will actually use so that we only need one page - the wireless option works, it uses 868MHz and it has worked well at big shows.   My exhibition layouts have Digitrax DCS240 command stations and I do have a DT402 just in case for programming or status editing at shows but it doesn’t get used very often.  The Daisy is easy and comfortable to use in one hand,

  10. How have you connected the stay-alive?

My guess is that the stay-alive is connected to the track input of the decoder not to the positive and ground - it charges up and when track power is removed the stay-alive is seen as a DC supply……
