Leighton Buzzard Diesel Gala - 27th May 2024
bandmbill replied to bandmbill's topic in Narrow Gauge Exhibitions & Events
More details of the diesel gala. Traction list the active loco, rolling stock is the train, this may include locos being towed unpowered to get them positioned ready for their turn. Creepy, 43 and Feanor can supply and control air brakes for passenger trains. Click link to see timetable. https://www.buzzrail.uk/media/vb5iuhg0/2024-diesel-gala-with-a-hint-of-steam-souvenir-timetable.pdf- 1 reply

You probably need to remap functions not move sounds between slots - haven’t done this on Loksound but have on Zimo decoders using DecoderPro…….
-
Can you try reprogramming the addresses - could the channel that was 158 have got reprogrammed some how…..

Fitting decoder to Hornby 08 shunter (R2417)
bandmbill replied to Jabee's topic in DCC Fitting Guides
Think it is possible but there isn’t a ground pad so you will have to solder between a couple of components - see the MX series manual https://www.zimo.at/web2010/documents/MX-small-decoders_EN.pdf page 7…… -
We are holding a Diesel Gala - but PeterPan will also be in action. Leighton Buzzard Narrow Gauge Railway has a large collection of internal combustion powered locos as well as one battery loco. We usually aim to just run steam trains on our operating days - the air-brake fitted diesels are usually on standby in case of a kettle failing. Link to the website page below - more details when published - the plan is to form three passenger sets from the usual two so an intensive service. More details when they become available. https://www.buzzrail.uk/special-events/diesel-gala-with-a-hint-of-steam/

You can never have too much LocoNet gear!
-
Second one now upgraded. One now listed on eBay!
-
My first one has now been tested - could run trains and program from LocoNet throttle - connected to home WiFi - connected to JMRI over WiFi and could program from there - also LocoNet monitor was displaying messages - connected iPad to WiThrottle…. So all very successful!
-
My code arrived in under 2 hours. Will hopefully test tomorrow….
-
My two YD9401 modules arrived this morning - waiting for activation key for first one. I picked up a Digikeijs bundle on eBay (2 x DR5000 and 4 x DR5088RC) - it was the DR5088RC units that I was looking for. I have a use for one DR5000/YD7001…..

DCC fitted loco slow to respond
bandmbill replied to ST23HOG's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
Is it only slow to respond to throttle changes - do horns take the same long time to sound or do they respond immediately? -
Yes - just got an email!
-
I have quite a few locos with Zimo sound decoders in them - I have remapped sounds to get them on easily accessible buttons - horns and whistles, brakes, drain cocks, fireman shovelling, blowers and injectors on steam locos - try to standardise sounds and functions to specific buttons - sound on/off F1, brakes F2, horns and whistles on F3 and F4 and so on…..

The best currently available dcc controller
bandmbill replied to Hobb0's topic in DCC Help & Questions
No - haven’t got a DT602 - only had a bunch of Daisys….. I have used a DT602 a few times - they are more friendly to new users than the DT400/500 series - are the buttons able to be set to latched or momentary? -

Another vote for the Daisy 2. I only use functions F0 - F8 remapping the ones that will actually use so that we only need one page - the wireless option works, it uses 868MHz and it has worked well at big shows. My exhibition layouts have Digitrax DCS240 command stations and I do have a DT402 just in case for programming or status editing at shows but it doesn’t get used very often. The Daisy is easy and comfortable to use in one hand, -
How have you connected the stay-alive? My guess is that the stay-alive is connected to the track input of the decoder not to the positive and ground - it charges up and when track power is removed the stay-alive is seen as a DC supply……
-
Just checked - they changed in 1971 - I was still at school and in the electronics club we ordered from Radiospares - memories of the paper catalogue - I have used them since then - just hadn’t really noticed that they had changed the name…….

Robert Hudson "Rugga" V Skip Wagons
bandmbill replied to Fair Oak Junction's topic in Narrow Gauge Prototype
They still are in use…… We have lots of Rugga skips and similar ones at Leighton Buzzard…. A very simple wagon for moving minerals, sand, clay……
