Re the horse meat scandal, there was a comment on TV - probably "Have I got News For You", or "Mock the Week" - anyway the gist of it was that scientists had conducted tests on Tesco's burgers and were just impressed that there was any meat in them at all.....
Once came across a product made by a company (name omitted in case they are still trading) called "Caterburgers", allegedly due to the lack of meat in the product.

Sausages by the name of Harris………
Used to be said the only part of a pig that was not used in the Harris factory in Calne was the squeak.

Getting warmer.
There was a proposal to link the Marlborough GWR Branch with its Calne Branch to create a through route.
However there was a GWR Bus 🙂 Marlborough - Calne GWR Bus link poster 1904
However as noted in the link below the higher ground at Yatesbury would pose an issue for a railway route.
Comment on Calne Branch and extension
Any warmer ?

A good candidate Paul, but the location I have in mind is in Wiltshire, not Leicestershire.
Melton Mowbray pies according to Wikipedia are produced near Nottingham as a result of EU legislation locality rules which prompted closure of the Trowbridge Wiltshire Bowyers factory Bowyers on Wikipedia

TBH, I'd draw the line at the 64' Lima BG when proper 57' Replica ones can be had for very similar money.
John
Even available new direct from Replica (but not in Blue/Grey)

Martin's discovered that they had a very high failure rate. It was then realised that the data centre was in Willesden and the vibration from passing trains was causing the failures.
Worked for a company and we had equipment containing Winchester Drives aka hard disks, and two data centres, one at Warrington and one in London, with a common spares pool , this sometimes required transfer between sites.
After a couple of "Dead on Arrival" incidents when trying to fit a spare that had been moved between sites out of hours, it had to be impressed on staff, that motorcycle couriers were not to be used to move them.

The Head of "Modern Studies" at my Grammar school once informed our economics class that a sociology qualification could be obtained from the dispenser in any toilet cubicle in the school.

rarely do items come packed as per Royal Mail advice.
I have the experience of receiving eBay feedback stating that I, "over-packed" an item.
Item was a book, packed in bubble wrap and card and then wrapped and sealed against water damage against postie leaving on a doorstep in pouring rain.

Hi
Have you looked on the TCS website and their DCC installations page. - TCS DCC installations
They have a complete non Sound DCC installation into a Walthers FM H-10-44 described. - Walthers H10-44 DCC install
The body removal instructions on it are : "The H-10-44 shell is attached to the frame with the screws through the front and rear coupler boxes. Remove the front and rear coupler boxes and the shell will pull right off."

Back in 85 I had a holiday in Cornwall and had a week on a Cornish rover doing all of the branches. Got to Liskeard to find that the unit was parked up and replaced by a P***r as it had a broken window. Think I scanned a neg from the trip.
Bentley Model Railway Group have an example of the DMU on their Pengwynn Crossing layout.

I was at college in Bournemouth in 1979 / 1980 and have memories of an 08 and a parcels van in the bay at Bournemouth Central (opposite end, same side to that used by stopping services). Never saw the 08 in action at anytime.
-
Late 1960's I remember sitting on Northampton (Castle) Station and on several occasions observed Northbound parcels trains which would pull into the riverside platform and vans would be unloaded during an extended station stop. The other platform face of this island platform was used for Northbound Passenger trains.
GPO traffic came out of Passenger train (EMU's) guards compartments and was met by GPO staff, the Sorting Office being remote in the Town Centre.
However there was a large amount of outgoing traffic and the former Northbound bay platforms would both contain parcel stock, being filled with amongst other items, large quantities of inflated footballs in large paper sacks from Mettoy.
Do not remember any detaching of vehicles.

I use Royal Mail's online postage and free next day collection service. I can use their Tracked 24/48 service and the postie collects it next working day. Otherwise for me it would be an 8-mile round trip to the Post Office in the car plus queueing time etc.
Unfortunately only works if you can be in when the Postie calls, although I work from Home some days, I can still be dispatched at 0 mins notice.

I have been finding an increase in the number of people recently who bid on items at the last minute and then never pay or never communicate.
Best excuse for non-payment for a completed auction was "my girlfriend won't let me spend the money".
In slowly selling a large collection on eBay I have had several cancelled three day old bids with reason "entered wrong amount", which gets an immediate promotion to my blocked bidders list, as does non-payment. - However blocked bidders, blocked for non-payment, come back with new eBay ID's.
Slow payers are another problem as they generate additional trips to the Post Office.

£24.50 + shipping for this ZUA that's been stamped on!
Not even boxed !
Good condition ? Google defines it as "fit for intended purpose, of satisfactory quality, not damaged and capable of any agreed standard of performance"
This weeks trainee must be from another universe.

Exported to Canada which is North America. Plenty of videos on youtube of private "speeders" running on short lines in absence of traffic.

Oh, said the surgeon paging through his file, there's no mention of that here.
Probably a result of the conversion of paper records into electronic format, (done off-shore I believe), where a cut-off date for clinical history being entered took place. Myself, it omitted a long and protracted period of issues and the hospital investigations, and for her indoor's significant surgery in her pre-teen years, both of which have a significant bearing on our current health.
