Morning all. Popping into work shortly for a few hours of delicious double-time.
Looks a bit grey here right now.
We seem to have gained a mating pair of small birds in the warehouse at work. At first I thought they were robins but they don't look quite right. I also watched a pair of crows chasing off a buzzard outside.

Evenin' all.
Can anyone explain to me why I volunteered for a spot of overtime tomorrow? The money's always useful but...
-
Doesn't hugely affect my non-work life, but makes a fair difference both with work and with attempting to find a new/better job. I'm not going to buy a new car as it's not financially worthwhile for me to do so - airport travel pass is cheap and gives me a lot of unlimited bus travel in a fairly wide area. Living where I am now, I have no need of a car.
Makes a big difference at work though, as well as letting me finally do overtime again!

Evening all. Saw the neurologist this morning - I'm allowed to drive again!
-
Morning all! It's not as warm as it has been, is it?
I'm off to see the neurologist this morning, finally. Hopefully I'll get the all clear and can go back to driving etc.
Not that I have a car any more, or need one.

Happy Oldday, Stewart!

Morphine is interesting stuff. Works very very well when you need it, but difficult to leave when you have to.
Morning all! Really not a fan of going back to work today - it's been nice working three days of the last eleven...
Finally back to see the neurologist tomorrow morning. It's taken long enough with appointment cockups and them trying to make appointments in places I physically could not get to without a car...

All flavours of road users contain their share of morons.
I've never understood why some cyclists think the little rules (like traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, one way roads, and so on) don't apply to them. It's not exactly difficult to follow them - if I can manage it, so can everyone else!
Mooooorrning all. Looks nice out there again!

Morning all. I've been considering things to buy kitwise...and what size i can realistically build a small layout. As in very small.

Images can add up to a lot of bandwidth, and that can easily cost a lot of money. Using an external free image host removes that cost.

I've been keeping an eye on Endeavour, not any wedding shenanigans. Just under four hours to scheduled launch at the time I'm writing this...

Well, the first few words are definitely accurate...

I am somewhat concerned about the Horny Buildings...

Sheffield Park is worth a visit if you are there for a while and need a break from trains!
Sheffield Park is what we'll be there for - the family is celebrating my grandmother's 80th. However, the suggestion is that any who want to go investigate the Bluebell as well, so I will.
-
Forgot to say morning this morning, so: afternoon all!
It's still beautiful here. I wish I'd done something a little more productive with the last four days, but hey - laziness is good every now and then.
Looks like I'll be paying a visit to the Bluebell in a few weeks time - anything in particular I should keep my eyes open for?

When I was an in patient these were in very short supply
My last three stays in hospital all included cute young nurses. Also a fairly strict matronly character in charge of them all.
Today I was very lazy, then a few friends came over for a game of monopoly this evening. Very civilised. (I lost, of course.)
-
The disadvantage of leaving hospital, of course, is that you don't get waited on by cute young Nurses.

Excellent news, Gordon! And it's definitely the right weather for just lying back and taking it easy. Just mind you don't burn!
-
Indeed!
Evening all. Got up a little late this morning.
Behind me on the floor is temporarily a little oval of ancient Hornby set track, with the Class 08 I won on this here corner of the internet some years ago sitting on it and whirring around a little. Just 'cos I can.
I seem to have quite a lot of old track lying around - both the stuff that used to be our railway when I was smaller, and for some reason a box of extremely poor condition stuff of unknown origin - I don't know where it came from.
Also tested the other two locos I have that are likely to be kept - my old Black Five appears to run, very badly. The Duchess of Atholl is worse but does shown hints of life. Perhaps a thorough service will wake them both up - but not for now. The other old stuff I have is eventually to be sold/disposed of, and as far as I know shows no sign of working at all right now.
-
Good luck, Gordon.

Morning all. Considering chucking in the jeans for shorts at work today - we're looking at 22C or so today!
-
Evening all. Beautiful day today here - really wish I wasn't at work!
I was awake earlier than normal this morning, then ended up reading and losing track of time...

Don't bother with inkjet printers these days unless you are regularly printing in colour (as in at least every week or two). A cheap monochrome laserjet is only about £40 these days and will last at least a thousand pages before you need to refill it - usually more. A multifunction colour laserjet is not much more than a hundred and will never dry out - so it's always there. Refills are not as expensive as you look - my printer costs £50 for a full cartridge but I've only replaced it once in the last six years. I own a Samsung laserjet (original cost £55 including shipping), and my mother has a Samsung multifunction colour laserjet/scanner which she's very happy with. HP's recent consumer offerings are not as good as their older office models - but if you ever get offered an old HP laserjet 3/4/5, TAKE IT - they're basically indestructible, my stepdad's is still going strong after about 16 years.
Epson are perhaps the worst for ripping people off with inkjets (closely followed by most of the other major names), but all inkjets are a ripoff.

I was considering going for a walk along the river this afternoon. Ended up going to a mate's instead and playing Risk. Was good fun.
Early Risers.

Morning all. Looks lovely here too - I've always thought that spring has the best weather.
Of course, I'll be inside most of it.
