. . . . and you haven't changed one little bit . . . .
(insert smiley thing here)
LOL, Not mentally anyway. Nowadays if I sport that get up people think I am in an AC/DC tribute band!

Personally, I think that a balanced solution is derived from a balanced argument.
Of course there are good points and bad points in every scheme, but I don't think that a forum for railway-minded people (even the tiny train-minded like me) is going to represent a balanced view of the true facts of the case!
PS: For those around Plymouth and West Devon, there's a series of meetings in the Tavistock area this week to let the populous know of the intentions for the new rail link to Tavistock. Hardly HS2, but it affects me more
Lets call it TS2!
This country desperately needs infrastructure investment if the rest of us who don't live in the South East are to have any chance of equal growth and those who do live in the SE are to stand a chance of staying out of a green belt swallowing megalopolis!

Very nice work- I like the tonal variation in the scatter on the fields, beautifully observed.

Wow, to all of it!

Andy C / Steve, are these the correct chimney pots? They look a lot closer to me than the ones in the photo on the previous stage.
If they are, Freestone can do me a bulk lot at a discounted price and as they are only down the road, I can nip round to get them.
Dude, nice pot(s)....
Like the cobbles too but there were less punning opportunities.

See you there!

He is an RMwebber with about three posts and good friend of mine, and appreciates most forms of humour
Cheers,

The subject of scale height vs what looks right to the viewer is a thorny topic as old as model making. I am amazed that nobody does specific chimney pots to order in 4mm, it might be a small niche but there must be a gap in the market there somewhere. You could call yourself "The Pot Man" and get massive web traffic from muppets on Google which you could use for advertising sales.
Stupid business plans aside the row of houses looks terrific.

It's amazing to think of Parafin lighting of signals lasting so long!

How did I miss this! Great looking layout, I really should get more done on Kingsbridge as your (fully working) model is making me jealous!

He clearly likes the company of the titled, as anyone who has seen Mr Harrap's bus pass can attest!I know you all live in unheard of luxury down there in the English Riviera Brian but hanging out at the Moguls Palace - wow!! I didn't even know that the Mogul was a member of SWAGDRAG
Jerry
It was mentioned in discussion about "extreme modelling" in relation to the 2mm scale sausages, cakes and other window dressings shown in the latest Frankland update!

Once again a beautifully observed and researched bit of modelling. The results would be considered amazing in 4mm but to incorporate that level of detail in 2mm/n is simply breathtaking. I have been making some small shops so know quite how tiny the window displays are, making those alone elevates the modelling here to the highest level, let alone the wonderful lunacy of the working blinds! I hope they have internal lighting to show off all that detail.

Merry Christmas to you too.

I suspect that the 3rd one is indeed UPTON, a colliery in Pontefract. I wonder if there is a sharper version of this picture somewhere as it is a good one for variety.

In the 1941 shot, a number of the PO's are lettered ATKINSON & PRICKETT Ltd. He was a Hull merchant so no surprise a lot of his are in the yard!
The one behind the shunter is S&D? FIS?ER the D maybe a B, will keep looking.
Good list of identified coal merchants on here

Given the high standard of the rest, I would re do the back scene. Stuff in front looks great.
-
Great pics, but I love the last one. Is it a S&T version of a 'What the Butler saw' machine??
He's looking at all the "stripped" wires the dirty chap....

I found the flats really hard to build and mine are in the UFO pile, yours have come out well tho.
-
Well done. The camera always finds something the eye missed. Looks like the new bit is going to be as good as the completed section.
-
Wow, just found this excellent layout, superb blending of the back scene and the water is amazing too!
-
There is a cameo in the making!

Just a thank you to all posters, to say how wonderfully evocative the pictures are for those of us who missed main line steam and are lapping up the atmosphere!
