I have similar not good for decoder wire but excelent for beefier bus wire.
They will allow you to open up the insulation in the middle of a bus wire run to solder to.

When I was 9 my uncle, who was a professor of veterinary medicine brought me an Airfix Wellington bomber which I made very badly (glue everywhere). This started a passion for me as a solitary child (long story boarding school) for building Airfix models. I probably built most of the Aircraft military vehicles and had 1000's of the soldiers available in 65-70 plus a few Revell kits.
I found out later that the Wellington had a personal link to my uncle as his brother was a rear gunner in a wellington and he died when it was shot down.

I use a track rubber with the corners cut back to fit inside the track and the edges cut to clear the 3rd rail! points are more difficult so I use 5-7mm strips of the track rubber and use them carefully.

Having worked a a university for 34 years as a lab technician (Microbiology and Virology 16 yrs) then a computer officer for 18 years and building 400+ computers i(ncluding 2 25 computer arrays for DNA sequencing). I regularly came across academics who could not undo a nut but others who could build car motors and one who had restored a traction engine . To me it was down to the interest in a particular thing that gave the impetus to learn and try!

I am always amused to see the following company's vans on the road. I always have an image of Welsh Triffids on the march!
I have the image of Triffids when at roadworks I see the sign.

There are reviews on "Sams Trains" on YouTube. It seems a total piece of cheap rubbish the valve gear in particular.

Typo probably meant to be £39.75 although that’s still hardly a bargain
Now £10.28 + £5.00 P&P
Almost certainly was a mistake

Having just been through this with a Hornby A2
Is it a short or a loss of contact ?
Is the loco tender drive, 8 pin DCC ready, hard wired (details needed)
If tender drive, then I assume not 8 pin ready
Things to check:-
1 Clean Track
2 Clean Wheels
3 Clean the loco tender connections.
4 check the pick-up wipers are all touching the wheels.
5 The connection between the chassis and the rear bogie is reliable.

Whilst attending my aunt’s funeral in Eire. Prior to going to the church, we all met up at her house. The house was the crossing Keepers house (she was the crossing keeper) we arrived driven by a 14 yr old girl who could hardly see over the steering wheel. We went in the men were in the front room with plenty of whiskey all women had to go in the kitchen!
After about 10 mins the phone rang and a rather sozzled man who I did not recognise stood up and answered it (he was the relief gatekeeper for the day. There was a train due in 10 mins and the crossing gates (single line) needed opening for the train to pass
20 minutes later he stood up went out and opened the gates. Sure enough the train came around 5 mins later. I asked him why he took so long to open the gates.
His reply was the driver was the brother-in-law of the stationmaster and that they would be having a good chat

While looking for something else entirely, I found the licence to publish images I received from Peterborough library. My tiny mind had forgotten this, and indeed was convinced that I could not put them on here. However, I can, which is good, as I need to seek your opinion on an important subject. So here is the one and only good image I have ever found showing at least part of Station road, with this caveat." Original photographs form part of the Kitchin collection held by Peterborough Archives Services. They are not to be copied without the permission of the copyright holder".
My question is about the tree on the right hand side of the image, which looks a bit strange. I have asked 4D model shop to make a bespoke model of it, and they are as puzzled as I am, and indeed asked me if there are two different trees and if it is the lower one I'm asking for. I have only one other image which helps at all, and that is the aerial photo Steve @31A found for me. That shows that this is the only tree at this end of Station Road, and I can see nothing in the background that could have got sort of superimposed over the top of it.
So, can you arboreal experts, or anyone else for that matter, make any suggestions about this? What sort of tree is it? Could it really be only one tree? The trunk seems rather narrow for something of this height, if it is one complete tree. The only other large trees around are right down on Station Approach, near the hotel, and the angle from which this image was taken does not seem to me to allow for one of those to be in shot.
The shadows on the pavement seem to say 1 tree but the sun is very high so a second tree may not show up?

Same with DP1 where it appears to have sold out within a couple of weeks of announcement, OK it's not my money at stake (and selling out early is way better than having unsold stock hanging around) but the rapid sell out (as evidence suggests) means they could've sold a fair few more.
If they sell a limited number then those who miss out but are desperate will pay over the odds.
Then the buyers can make a profit see E-bay.
Just look on E-Bay at the exaggerated prices that some things sell at! So a limited number will sell out but a larger number may stay on the shelves because the chiselers won't buy them.

I lost interest at the final end of the Westerns! My interest had waned at the end of steam, but at least the Westerns Hymecs and Warships had a sort of individuality rather than the sameness of the 125's

A handy tutorial on How to use a multimeter

the way I have done this in the past is to use a spare wired 4 pin plug (e-bay from China) and use a multimeter to determine which pin is which with the blanking plug removed. Then solder inside the loco.

Another overpriced horror from this well known (on these pages) seller.
Hornby R.2880 BR CLASS 9F 2-10-0 LOCO & TENDER. No 92221. DCC READY MIB
92221 is a loco that is reported with Mazac pest to the tender chassis
The clinders look to have come off an Evening Star the cab windows are unglazed and the pipework/handrails moulded and are painted white. The cab number is 92166 and it looks to have the contact pin for a tender drive. Probably an earlier body / chassis.
Maybe £12.00 not £120

I have just recieved an E-Mail offering this frankenstein model for £108. I don't think so!!
