GREGSON LANE

I have finally got round to building a layout and hopefully sticking to my plan. i did start to construct a four track main line layout but due to size issues i decided to scrap it. this is now my permanant layout. the main scenic part of the layout is 38 x 13 inches and the sliding fiddle yard is 17 x 8 inches giving a total of 630 square inches. the fiddle yard is mounted on drawer runners.

Looking good.

But I would say that the traverser is locked into the frame and so looses some of its potential.

It is more usual (??should be??) to lay the runners flat so that the table sits on it allowing it to extend over the framing. This then allows all of the traverser roads to be accessed by all input roads.

Another potential issue is that any play in the runners (notable in that type) can be transferred to vertical movement of the table - certainly not the desired effect especially in N. However I see that yours is probably really running on the frame itself.
