Background Sound Downloads

I am not sure if this is the right forum for this but here it is anyway.

 

Having just installed iTrain on my layout I have now developed a fascination with the sound effects facility. I am looking for a 1960s steam railway station "ambiance" sound track but cannot find one that is downloadable from the interwebby. I have found this one from the British Library which would be perfect but it seems you have to be an educational establishment with a license before you can download it:-

I get them from YouTube

 

just download the mp3 sound file and  edit out the part that you want

The BBC have made their sound effects searchable and downloadable. 

 

I cant seem to copy it as a link but a google search for BBC sound effects gets you to the main page and a search for railways stations brings up a large selection that you may  be able to use.

 

There are lots of other useful sounds in there that you can cobble together to make suitable ambient sounds for a number of locations. Be prepared to waste some time in there!!

This could be really useful for plugging in an Arduino with a phone speaker to produce sounds linked to animations... I'll be downloading some sound effects once I'm not on my work computer!
