RMweb Premium Patrick SPF Posted February 9, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 9, 2022 You are quite correct, I don't think there was an E1 class. What it does prove is that I should not be typing when tired!
RMweb Premium Patrick SPF Posted February 10, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 10, 2022 (edited) Moving on to 2010 I had a family tour of central Sweden which included visiting a number of railway museums where plenty of digital photos were taken. This included a number of detail photos for modelling purposes - I will post them if people are interested.. The first train was found at Sunne - Y31 1420 The local youth hostel where we were staying had an old general store as part of the buildings The following day there was a visit to the Hagfors industrial landscape Some internal user wagons Then on to the Hagfors railway museum, which covers the former Nordmark-Klarälvens Järnvägar (NKlJ) an electrified 891mm gauge system owned by Uddeholm AB (there was some standard gauge operated by SJ as a contractor before being transferred to Banverket at some point after the narrow gauge was removed in 1983 ). The rest of the network was closed down over a number of years with the end coming in 1991. The section Hagfors-Stjärnsfors still exists and is used for bicycle drasine hire. The NKLJ had two steam inspection drasines - number 1 (Lund 1900) survives AEG electric No33 from 1920 Edited April 7, 2022 by Patrick SPF Restoring Pictures

EddieB
I hope Patrick won't mind my posting it here - but for anyone tempted to visit Sweden after seeing these pictures, there's a series of events culminating in a final steam run on the famous Iron Ore Railway (Malmbanan) this Summer: https://www.jarnvagsmuseet.se/tagresor/aktuella-resor/historiska-malmtag-pa-malmbanan

RMweb Premium Patrick SPF Posted February 12, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 12, 2022 (edited) Continuing on in the Hagfors museum here is No 102 "Munkfors" ASEA 1960 - as you can see space was somewhat limited 0-4-2T No 1 "Ua" (Henry Hughes 1874 with the amended ab and rear axle added around 1900) She is fitted with a turbine spark arrestor on the chimney Another view of No 33 from the front this time she is a 1-C-1 loco. I am not sure about the dummy leaning against the loco No 5 "Lovisa Tranæa" (0-6-2T Avonside 1875) No 7 "Hagfors" 0-6-2T NOHAB 1883, the second photo shows that some work is needed on her Edited April 8, 2022 by Patrick SPF
EddieB
I think you must have been unlucky to have found no. 102 cramped for space - here's a view from 2006 when my biggest concern was the colour balance of shooting on daylight film under fluorescent light - yet another plus point for digital cameras!

RMweb Premium Patrick SPF Posted February 18, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 18, 2022 (edited) A couple of days later including some "interesting" driving through a set of roadworks I had a chance to visit the TGOJ Museum at Grängesberg. An old coach from one of the TGOJ's constituents the Örebro - Köping Railway (originally the Köping - Hults Railway which opened in mid 1856). Baldwin30762
Hi Patrick Just found this thread, so forgive me if you have already answered it does anyone following this thread have any details about the Swedish 3ft gauge railways, I have some details of the Jadraas-Tallas Swedish Mallet Built Atlas, Stockholm 1910 0-6-6-0 Tender loco, however I am thinking in terms of having a couple of coaches for the loco to pull, but I don't have any details of any Swedish 3ft gauge rolling stock in OO/HO Scale, any help given would be most welcome. RMweb Premium Patrick SPF Posted February 19, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 19, 2022 Hi yes there are some kits, Worsley works do some SRJ coaches http://www.worsleyworks.co.uk/NG/NG_Sweden.htm Also Rimbo Grande http://rimbogrande.se/index.php?route=product/category&path=62 Dekaler & Etsat https://www.byggsvenskt.nu/ Skultorps Vagn & Lok verkstad https://www.svlv.se/ Also you could look at the Smalspårigt (Swedish Narrowgauge Society) website There is a good book of drawings but finding a copy for sale in the UK may be difficult, there was a copy in the library system some years ago but I suspect it has been disposed of.
Baldwin30762
Hi Patrick thanks, do you happen to have the title of the book so I can search either Abe books or Amazon for one if they every come up Yes I have looked at the Worsley kits, but they are not the type I am looking for right now, it is more like the 891mm gauge teak timber bogies stock that I would like to find the details of, I am thinking in terms of say two or three different styles, I am not sure if you guys have a brake / open coach like we have over here in the UK, or do you normally run a brake van as a separate vehicle? RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted February 23, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 23, 2022 That is fascinating. I'd no ideacthat such locos still existed. It will be great to see it runnjng and also very interesting to hear what it sounds like when running. Does it have some sort of forced draught for the exhaust or does it just rely on the turbine exhaust creating a smokebox vacumn. Jamie

No exhaust noise as such, but it does look like the turbine exhausts out of the chimney. No idea if that's enough to create a decent draught in the firebox though. 5
EddieB
Here's a section of the original Nohab design for the TGOJ turbine locos. I must confess that it's hard to follow the steam flow, but it appears that steam is drawn into the turbine through piping that runs through the smokebox, then exhausts into the smokebox and out of the chimney, creating a draught. 1
