In the early days of DCC there were no sockets or plugs, just decoders with wires. We coped, even with sound.

Any DCC decoder has the same fundamental needs. It must sit electrically between track power and the motor. If you can ensure that the motor only receives current from two wires, then you are half-way there. Those wires need to meet the grey and orange leads of a wired decoder. The red and black leads from the decoder go to the left and right rail pickups. Loudspeaker connections will be among the other colours on the decoder - blue, white and yellow are for lights.

It really is that simple. You CAN do it!

Next question - does it run OK on DC? I've not seen a transmission like that before.

If you can't get the body off, it looks like there would be room for a decoder where the Mougel sticker is, although sound

might be a challenge. The underside looks to be plastic with the pickups screwed on, so in principle it would be a very straightforward job provided the motor works well.
