Jaakko
I am making a 4 mm scale layout of the Afon Wen Station in Cambrian Coast line but I have difficulties in finding photos of the Afon Wen bridge. I can not find books or photos, which would help in making an accurate model of the railway bridge. So far I have only found these photos (with very limited help really): http://s0.geograph.o...g</span></span> http://s0.geograph.o...g</span></span> http://www.yourlocal...river-61194.jpg If someone had any additional material to share, it would be most appreciated! Jaakko
I've got this book but unfortunately there are no pictures of the railway bridge in it.
Jaakko
Thank you 27016 for the image links. The dukedog is my favourite British locomotive. Wait long enough and Bachmann will probably make a model of it... I finally found a few images of the Afon Wen railway bridge: http://s0.geograph.o...83_3b245de4.jpg http://s0.geograph.o...69_c7721232.jpg It looks like a riveted girder bridge. I think that the plan drawing number 24 in Mr. Wood's book Wood Bridges for Modellers gives a good starting point for a stratch building project. The Wills' varigirder bridge set may be useful also. westerner
There is a good article about Afon Wen giving locos, operation and summer Sat timetable in a book called Layout Designs for Operation by Stephen Rabone and Trevor Ridley published by Atlantic ISBN number 1-902827-14-7. Unfortunately the only pic which includes the railway overbridge is taken fom the end of one of the platforms
