Digikeijs DCC System

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any experience of using the Digikeijs DCC sytem, I saw this on the DCC Train Automation stand at the Doncaster exhibition today. Unfortunately there was no english literature on the product but it did look interesting.

The system is very competatively priced and seemed to be multi protocol capable. I would like to know what wireless controllers are compatible with the system?

Thanks,

I listened for a while to a sales spiel and several times the demonstrator mentioned an app to download but never said which devices, android, iOS or Windows and there does not seem to be any information on the website. At £120 it seems very competitive considering the number of bus systems it supports and with built in WiFi and router.

Richard,

I also listened to the sales advice on this system and like you asked for detail as to what wireless controllers (Phones/Tablets etc) were compatible and the associated iOS, Windows or Android sotware. All I could get was that it worked with the Marklin wired controller that was being demonstrated on the stand. Surely the advantage of this system is that it has in-built Wifi capability and as such it should have been made obvious what wireless controllers could be used with the command centre?

Dutch-Master,

I had checked on the web site already and could find no answer to the specific question that was raised in my original post. The web site page on the command centre is a technical write up of the device but as far as I can see there is no reference to specific controllers compatible with the command centre?

Almost too good to be true?

Yes the guy stood next to me to whom the sales pitch was being given was reaching into his pocket ready to part with his beer vouchers when that was announced. On the website it is priced at €149.99 I don't know what that converts into pounds but should be pretty close then add in a special exhibition price £120 is probably correct. As far as interfaces are concerned the specs. for it list a number of express net devices such as the LH100 and multimaus. As far as wifi devices I wonder if they are relying on third parties to develop the necessary apps. The demonstrator kept telling the guy once he had his phone networked with the device he simply had to download an app but never whilst I was there did he actually specify which app.

I opened up the manual which unfortunetly is in Dutch - maybe Dutch Master might translate some of the relevant pages, pretty please?

There seems to be several references to downloads but my feeling is that it is drivers mainly. There is an extensive section on WiFi and Lan but having to rely on pictures only it does show a tablet using WiFi. It then goes on and lists a number of layout control software including Traincontroller, iTrain and RocRail which can be connected from whatever device they are installed via LAN or USB. One screen shot in the LAN, WiFi section mentions a MacClone which suggests some if not all iOS devices can connect.

Short of getting a translation or them publishing an English version that's as much as I can deduce from the manual.

Hello All

RE Digikeijs DR5000

After reading the above want to give you the Full Spec on the System. And to answer some of the above questions.

1. Re English info the System come with Full English instructions.

2. At the moment Digikeijs don't have a product leaflets on any of there products for me to give out. I have asked for this and am sure these will come very soon.

3. The DR5000 what is it. Ok the easiest way to explain this is it is very like the Z21. The Unit has built in WiFi and not a router sat on top like the Z21. It also has a LAN port so you can connect up your Computer Internet router to the device.

The idea of the DCC system is so you can use it to run your layout through computer software like Train Controller, iTrain or Wingigipet for example.

There is also a configuration program that you can sown load for the system so you can drive the layout from this and program decoder and other devices. My self and other customer have been using this and it so easy to use that needing deep complicated instructions are not even needed. It all in English and works so well. You can even monitor the power usage of the system form here. It tells you in Amps and any point what is being used.

Also setting of accessory can be done through this configuration software. This configuration software is also how the system get it firmware updates. Even though the system has been out for only about two weeks, the first firmware update is out and just by down loading the new configuration software and linking the USB connection to your computer and opening the new config software loads the new update.

For more spec or info on the systems please look at our webpage.

http://www.dcctrainautomation.co.uk/dr5000-dcc-multi-bus-central.html

We are also doing YouTube videos on the system to show you how it works and what you can do. But we are very busy and getting time to produce the Videos all take time.

The first batch of these has already sold out.

Other great things on the Unit is it had the following connections X-bus(Lenz) Loconet(Digitrax and Uhlenbrock) R-Bus (Roco) and also IR-control and S88Feedback. Due to the fact the system has for example X-Bus you can connect Lenz throttle and also a Lco-net throttle (Digitrax) at the same time and if you make a change on either throttle you can see this on both at the same time.

All of this is only part of the system capability and as we learn more i will and can give you updates.

I can only give you what 100% info that is available and correct as i get it.

Re APPs for controlling the trains at the moment i have only tested partly so don't want to give you info i am not 100% sure about. What i can tell you is it does work with iTrain app through the iTrain software.

If you have any other question please call or email me as i don't get the time to come on here.

I just received a DR5000 command station yesterday, and it is working well with Lenz LH100 and Roco Multimaus controllers.

I also use CTI software on the PC for signalling, etc. and that is working well with the Dr5000 via the USB interface using Xpressnet protocol.

I haven't figured out the LAN configuration yet, and I have been in contact with Digikeijs support for some assistance.

I have also been using WiThrottle app on iPhone, using the inbuilt server in the CTI software rather than JMRI.

I would also like to be able to use TouchCab, but that depends on figuring out the LAN configuration.

Good to know, I have the money set aside for either this or the Z21, Just taking my time to decide which one will work best for what I want

A bit of an update re my DR5000:  I have sorted out the LAN address/connection issues, and I can now drive trains using JMRI via the wired LAN connection to the DR5000.

Using the same IP address and port no., I can't get the CTI software to connect via the LAN, nor can I get TouchCab to connect via the DR5000 WiFi.

Update:  CTI software did connect to the DR5000 and the setup is now working well.  It connected spontaneously after I booted up the PC the following morning.  It seems it will connect the first time CTI is run after booting the PC, but not after quitting CTI and restarting it.

Also, Digikeijs have confirmed there is a compatibility issue with TouchCab which is being worked on.

Well I use the DR5000 in a combination with Traincontroller. And it's working fantastic!

Also the servos and accessories working well via my Arduino build DCC decoders connected to the DR5000.

Since I use Freiwald's Smarthand as an add on in Traincontroller, I can also operate my trains and switchboards by my iPhone.

The DR5000 with traincontroller seems to be an golden combination.

Hi, an old post I see, but I have just received my DR5000 from Digikeijs today. Out of interest, when did you post the update about the issue with TouchCab being worked on?

How have you connected the DR5000 to JMRI? Is it via LocoNet on LAN, or XpressNet? I'm just away to hook it up so I can "try and fix the issue with TouchCab" - although the issue with TouchCab is not an issue really, it's that the DR5000 is not supported! (yet) :D

Cheers

Mike
