Hi Salty, I,ve been following your posts on FB, where did you get the conversion kit from? was it expensive? I wouldn,t mind doing one myself one day, I had one years ago already converted, but the chap I bought it from had made all the parts from scratch, it was a superb runner and looked amazing I wish I had taken some photos before selling it!

Keep up the good work!

Cheers, Pete.

Hi, I haven't got s kit for the hymek yet, will get one in the new year. The 33 I'm doing I got the kit off a rmweb member.

Actually made a start on the 33 tonight. The side grill was extremely fiddly and I'd of like to have done them better but they will do.

Hopefully it'll look like Phil's old 33 I purchased today

But more progress - now a running chassis but runs terrible, one axel keeps locking which is causing very bad running, can't seem to rectify the problem which is very irritating.

Gave shell a coat of primer to see how the grills look, not really that happy with them but have lost interest in rectifying them as they were a pain to fit.

I picked up some very badly painted coaches quite cheaply and have been having a play and seeing what I can achieve from them. There were two Lima coaches and two triang mark 2's. So firstly I've rubbed down and primed a ck and fitted easy build bogies. This one will be going blue and grey, made a start on the bck and likewise that will go blue and grey but with s set of triang b4 bogies. Finally the two triang coaches have been chopped up in the way many members have done over the years. Hopefully I can pick up another triang coach to make another.

Managed to get the 33 running and hopefully can source a missing buffer shank to complete the conversion.

  • RMweb Gold

A little more updates. Most of body surgery completed, roof and windows bonded in and a full coat of primer.

Can't do anymore now till a conversion kit is purchased.

In case you've missed it, my Triang Hymek is progressing on my blog http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/blog/236-redgates-modelling/

Hi David

Cheers for the kind comments

Do you have any pictures of your work on the Lima coaches?

James

Hi James

As promised, here are some photos from my father of the Lima-based SK, RMB, BCK (with the two first class compartments inserted next to the shortened/rearranged brake end), FO and BG.  You will see that several of them are still riding on the Triang B4 bogies and Slaters wheels that I fitted when I first built them and painted them up in blue and grey - strictly they should now ride on B1s or Commonwealths to match their subsequent time-travelling journey from the 1980s back to the 1960s.  They are very much what Tony Wright would call 'layout coaches' rather than detailed replicas - I made them when I was a teenager, so they are now 35 years old and must have put in many real miles on various loft and garden layouts.

Very nice they must be getting pretty rare these days, never had a go in a 5 turbo but I did get a drive in a friends Fiat Uno turbo but my favourite was the supercharged Polo G40,if anyone wanted to know what torque steer is that was the car for it!,I had to make do with a 1.3 Nova SR.

Good for you-nicely done. Interesting that quite a few car and bike enthusiasts/restorers Ive known are also modellers.

This is getting totally off-topic, but here's why my RMWeb handle is as it is.

This was my fast DAX:
