Remember that amazing series?

Well the music was an iconic start to each video and I am trying to find out who made it.

Telerail only remember they paid to use it so it must be a third party.

You can hear it at the start of this video.

Thanks

It was a great series.

There is masses of copyright free music out there so to trace something 20+ years old will be difficult.

When I use to produce dvds the editing program had some music included in the program-which from time to time I still hear on these in store presentation type dvds.

Cheers Paul, I have had emails from Steve at Telerail, he recalls they paid to use it and that it was on the Chappel music track label, other than that I am drawing a blank.

Warner-Chappell are a "music library" who have a huge library of different "mood music" from over the years which they sell licences for to be used, mainly by broadcasters and today by video producers. They've been going since the days of radio and the music is not available by any other method other than by purchasing a licence, generally speaking although some of their older tracks have been released on nostalgia albums. Their music frequently crops up as backing tracks on daytime TV and the like.

There are other music library companies who also sell rights to use in a similar way, I "acquired" a few CDs of different library music collections via the Talking Newspaper in Dolgellau (sadly not including the Telerail music I'm afraid) and was surprised to find one CD from one company contained all the Central Television continuity backing tracks from the 1990s!

After some searching around and the discovery of some Railfreight Today clips on YouTube, there was the answer on the info tab - the track is called Sporting Chance by Zack Laurence. It was originally published in 1988 on the Music House library CD titled Orchestral Impact - Industry 8 and having managed to obtained a copy from a seller in Serbia of all places I can confirm that track 3 on the CD is indeed the theme. Zack Laurence also wrote two other recognisable themes from the 1980s - Peak Performance better known as the theme to Treasure Hunt and also Force Field from The Crystal Maze.
