RMweb Premium dale159 Posted July 15, 2012 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 15, 2012 Thank you for the inclusion of the photo Beast66606. I have now taken delivery of some transfers from Railtec Models, made using the images posted on this thread by James Makin, and today I have found the time to apply them. The pack from Railtec included 4x Wales & West logos, 4x Alphaline logos with website address and a full set of unit and coach numbers all for a fiver! Usual disclaimer, no relation to the company just a very satisfied customer! Also now is a good time to mention I've never successfully applied any transfers before, so here goes! Looks good to me, I need to get some satin varnish which should hide most of the carrier film, doors could do with another coat orange. Still to apply are the set numbers to the cabs, I've not done these yet as I need to do a bit of painting around the obstacle deflector. A couple coats of satin varnish the carrier film should be almost invisible!
railtec-models
Looking good Dale and more than happy to be of assistance. The only thing I would say is that as with any transfers, glossing is highly recommended prior to application particularly to darker surfaces, as this significantly reduces (and frequently eradicates) the visibility of any carrier film. Best of luck! Steve Railtec Models
RMweb Premium dale159 Posted March 15, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 15, 2017 Well 5 years and one week after I started (its only taken 3 1/2 years to build the layout it's sat on!) I don't want to say it's finished but it took a major step forward yesterday in being reassembled. I think my homemade gangway door cover needs another coat of yellow. Unfortunately one of the Wales and West name transfers has been damaged, I think this maybe the reason I lost interest in the project to start with.
