  1. What was the official speed and what particular drivers did could vary considerably. I've seen a class 8 propelled into Lever's sidings at Port Sunlight over a trailing (ie facing when propelled) connection - different drivers interpreted the speed limiy quite differently.
  2. He lives there, rent free.

Perhaps only for another 6 weeks?

I thought he lived in a wood, under the name of Sanders? 🤔

  3. My lad was at Bidston but the power failure put paid to any decent shots.
  4. Very evocative - the silhouette of the signalman at the bells captured, a never to be repeated snapshot of time, his box was to be swept away 18 years later* by the October 1969 resignalling. * Wonder how many trains passed in the intervening years.
  5. Funniest comment for a while - thanks for that one.

  6. Me too, a year or two earlier iirc - although my photos are not to hand, I did go inside the box and took at least one interior shot (not much left of course)
  7. Any into jigsaws ?

The Works has a 500 piece jigsaw - subject "Train Set", a model railway in the loft.

  8. Ah In the Flamingo club on the south east side
Sits Rodrigues and his brand new bride
An ex-patron met him down by the riverside
It started when she lost her man
He ran off with a blonde in a black sedan
And she, she got no place to stay
He heard her sweet voice say ay ay ay ay yeah

  9. The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea

    In a beautiful pea-green boat,

They took some honey, and plenty of money,

Wrapped up in a five-pound note.

Have you ever seen a Bong Tree?

Or a Runcible Spoon for that matter.....

  10. Excuse the indulgence Photo taken : 14/05/2024 This wagon was making strange noises from the far bogie when being propelled earlier in the day (but only when propelled), I filmed the move and checked the video, the noise was very apparent so I recorded the sound and went to the DBC guys with it, turns out they had heard the noise too and so 15 minutes of moving the train back and forward, including isolating the wagon and then un-isolating again, ensued to check all was well. I feel like this is now "my" wagon so hands off* 😊 * not that I'll ever model it
  11. Row row row your boat.
    Gently down the stream.
    Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily.
    Life is but a dream.

      But....

The wheels on the bus go round and round,
Round and round, round and round.
The wheels on the bus go round and round,
      All day long!

  12. Sorry Peter - next you'll tell us you read - and believe - the Gruniard.
  13. Pitchforks ready everyone ? Personally I would like to hear both sides of the story before we get the lynching party organised - Andy Y has offered his services and could arbitrate if necessary and make the ultimate decision.
