Exhibitors catering is at the other end of the hall usually. The catering opposite is for visitors. Exhibitors get a meal voucher only usable in specific catering...more details will be in you pack on arrival..

Baz

PS ask callum about ink...he is now a qualified user of it for weathering purposes!!!!

Looks like I need to read more carefully! I'll have a better look through nearer the time as I only had a quick skim over some things!

And what isn't he qualified in now? :D

Excellent work Will! I recommend Humbrol 49 Matt Varnish Spray to hold the powders down.

Don't use Humbrol spray varnish on anything that has been painted using Humbrol/Revell/Pheonix/Precision type brushing paints out of a tin.  Evenb is the paint has been airbrushed on:

You get a heavily wrinkled effect that looks good on a 16t steel mineral, but wrong on anything wooden or a steam loco.

Halfords now do a Matt varnish in a rattle can.  Pricey, but it's good and works on top of factory paint, tinned model paint, and rattle can paint.

Works out cheaper than Testors...........

Never come across that before. Been using it for years and had no issues.  :paint:

Bumper lot of dodgy photos for you all

First up, the new and hopefully improved road. For those of you who don't know, before it was a very dark grey and full of scale 2 metre straight edge dips. I created the new surface using filler, it isn't perfect, but what country roads are. I then painted it using Humbrol enamels and weathered it with powders, mainly black and clay around the entrance to the yard. The main hill is now fully grassed, I finished it using Polak and Noch, hence the variation.

Next, figure painting. These are all Dapol workmen, painted using Humbrol acrylics from the box and some wargaming paint.

A tail lamp added to a brake van, needs weathering to cover up the first botched attmept

The loading platform, still needs a ramp making (which I'm doing now) with the new crane on. It's 'painted' using Halfords grey primer and needs weathering. Also, two of the figures I've painted, the one next to the lorry is one from a show.

And breath. This week I'm aiming to get the yard office built and ballasting completely done

(P.S, sorry Andy if I crash the forum because of this)

Hi Will, some great modelling there, I like the road, will you be adding a grass verg or hedging along side it to hide the join a bit? I did a similar one on our Clubs layouts.

What a great thread. The layout has come along nicely.

One easy way to weather the rollingstock is to give the models a coat of clear matt varnish (aerosol). Allow this to dry then powders can be applied. If you have access to an airbrush, lightly spray Isopropyl Alcohol over the powders. (A cheap airbrush will do this, one of those cheap kits that use a canister.) The isopropyl will engage the powders into the clear coat underneath. For streaks on wagon sides, I dip a fine brush into the isopropyl and then into the powder and paint fine streaks down the body sides.

See here ; http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/87945-linden-ford-a-second-hand-inglenook-layout/?p=1522816

Cheers, Gary.

Sound like you have been busy! Sorry I can't comment on the images as I can't see them! RMweb has been playing up for me lately, can't do anything. Hope this is fixed soon.

I have been, shame about the pics though

Thanks Gary, I'll look into the isopropyl as it seems to work well

Hi Will,

Making good progress and at least it looks like you're be ready for Warley (just a few a weeks to go now!)

Thanks Richard, hopefully by the end of the weekend it's just going to be the Goods shed and the tree area to make.

this is looking good, and your work is really moving on. No flat earth society here.

If you put up the photos in smaller groups, if anyone has any comments it is easier for them to say. Once you have lots of pictures of different elements people are less likely to say anything and just emote. Which is a shame because there is some lovely stuff going on here.

16 years......where does the time go.......

And if money is an issue....I have seen people use cat litter to make walling, which provide you with a LOT of walling for a small outlay. Googling this will probably give you 'how to' because I have seen the idea used well...but not actually done it.

Thanks Jaz, I'll bear the comments on photos in mind. As for the walling, that sounds interesting for another project, but for this layout I think I'll go with fences as I'm running out of time

I had a small problem with rmweb not working on this laptop on chrome and using IE crashed my laptop. The post I deleted was one when it crashed I think

Anyway, the layout is practically finished barring goods shed, details and a tiny bit of ballasting. Loco headlamps are fitted as are brake vans. Next, I'll start on the Goods Shed and weathering (if the sealent works) At the time of posting, the layout hadn't been tried to see if it works.

Thanks, I think the fact my layouts name begins with an A helps with getting it to the top (aren't I a marketing genius)

That reminds me, I need to ring up the guy from the Liskeard show to see if there's space for A Small Yard, the only problem is I don't know if I can get anyone to help operate

It's really looking the part now Will.Your layouts come together so well, you've every right to be pleased with it.I bet two years ago you never thought you'd be exhibiting at Warley, well done.

PS.Your modelling of the landfill site at the end of the layout is tremendous! :jester:

Only joking mate,it's a fantastic litte layout and all the best for Warley.
