Day 11 of 364 days of modelling
The 442 repaint starts again, coat of white applied to all vehicles and a pair of Stenson Models Gloucester Fast Freight bogies for PWA number 4
Day 9 of 365 days of modelling.
Not much today as I went back to work. The final livery element for the 442 was applied and demasked. I’m not happy with it so it’ll have to done again. Not as bad as it sounds, just some corrections on the placement of the stripes and addressing some raggedy edges and overspray.
Day 8 of 365 days of modelling.
The red on the 442 has now been applied and is being allowed to dry for 24 hours, then it’s onto the blue!
The chemical tank has had all its strapping on the barrel fitted and the bogie mounts fixed in place. It’s been placed on the layout to see how it looks with other stock and I’m quite pleased with it so far. Not bad for working from one photo and no drawings.
Day 7 of 365 days of modelling
Pretty much the same as yesterday really.
The 442 now has its coat of NSE white on all vehicles and is drying
the chemical ferry tank is having some strapping added to the barrel and the Cambrian Kits Y25 bogies have been assembled
Day 6 of 365 days of modelling
Yet more work in the 442, some red paint applied as I’m still waiting for the NSE white.
The ferry tank is progressing, which is surprising as it wasn’t something I planned to do at all but it’s a fairly easy wagon to do. However the barrel seems a little undersized so I’ve started to clad it in sheets of 10 thou plasticard.

More work on the 442, the motor coach now has full underframe detail and is as good as complete.
Southgate Park track relaying continued with the new track now fixed in place, droppers soldered in and ready for ballast.
The donor wagons for the chemical ferry tank fully stripped and barrels cleaned of detail and temporarily taped together to guesstimate the length.
Distracted by Nairn Road’s BIS hopper wagons and looking at making four from spare
Day 4 of 365 days of modelling.
Works continues with the 442, with the roofs now painted light grey.
Trackwork renewals on Southgate Park were underway.
A start was made on a ferry tank, which may or may not be an easy job or entirely accurate but should make an impressive wagon similar to this

Also looked at the bogie under the Dapol VTG telescopic hood steel wagon, to see if I can make a mould from them for some other ferry wagons.
Day 3 of 365 days of modelling
Today all vehicles of the 442 had a coat of light grey, can’t do any more until the new tin of NSE white arrives. The motor coach has pretty much all its underframe components made.
I also did some research into what I could do with various tank wagons I have stored away. Looking at ferry type tankers and have a few ideas. Watch this space.
Day 2 of 365 days of modelling
A few little but important jobs undertaken today.
Primer and final stages of body prepping for the 442 and some more underframe components for the 442 motor coach.
Day 1 of 365 days of modelling. Let’s see how long this lasts.
Wheel swap for my scratchbuilt APT to free up some 10.5mm wheels so I can completed three more PWA pallet vans and some underframe components for the 442 motor coach
