'All the small things' Part 3 (T Gauge Bubble Car and Sea Creatures)

Just a quick peek into the advent calendar of miniscule modelling today, and nothing tangibly real I'm afraid, but some ongoing design work.

Back in the 1:450 scale work, I am planning a layout based on the Welsh Marches Line in the early/mid nineties. This will of course include my Class 37 design on a mixture of Rugby specials and Class 158 replacement duties. When the properly shortened 37 is printed, I am looking to wrap it in a large logo all over transfer as 37408, and have it tow a short train of assorted Mark Ones and Twos in Regional Railways colours.

I was also pondering a freight train. Here we come to a conundrum as the traditionalist in me likes a freight train to have a brake van, for no other reason than to add variety to the set and offer awkward modelling challenges. This is a tricky ask as the wagons I am after printing need to be modern bogie ones to use the stack of bogies I have waiting....

..the obvious answer, some tiny printed Seacows with a Shark nibbling along behind them, see the designs below. Bear in mind the Shark could be parked on a human thumbnail without overhanging either side 'Italian Job' fashion, which accounts for the rather over emphasised details! The same goes for the Seacow, I am coming over all Tri-ang and printing a raised 'lip' around the top of the hopper to make it easier to paint on the yellow bit of the 'dutch' livery...

And also, talking 'T'..... there is also a bubble car on the way, designed to fit the medium sized chassis ('19m') from TGauge.com.

Still some way to go with this yet though!

I thought the 37 and bubble was for the Liskeard to Looe on a Tea Tray layout?

Keep going Will - compelling stuff this

Ah, well the bubble is designed to suit all manner of different ideas.... , Causeland on a crisp packet.... Who knows? Maybe a model of looe in the smallest room......

I've had some success with four wheel wagons in T by printing the bearings and chassis into the body then using the wheels from the bogies. You can also drill down the centre of the wheels and add axle ends. I did an NN15 four wheel coach this way, and it uses fine wire for the axles running in N gauge hand rail knob bearings

122 looks a little deformed - is that to fit the chassis ?

(and N scale yellow decal lines make excellent T scale stripes...)

The useful thing with a Shark is that it has such a short wheelbase that its 'chassis' will simply be an existing bogie glued into a recess between the ploughs.

Yep, the 122 needs some work... I think the buffers are a little close together, which in turn makes the body look a bit inflated! The problem has been designing one half first, then mirroring that to get the other side. This has so far resulted in buffers too closely spaced, and a destination board box thingy that is too wide....

Still, all part of the fun!

All of this is absolutely wonderful... but I just know that my eyesight wouldn't cope with such refinery. I admire your patience!

Will,

As impressed as I am, I can't help but feel that you need to get out more :-)

Seriously though, I look forward to seeing more of this.
