Finally got round to getting the Magnorail cyclist up and working properly..........

Shown with a couple of the buildings likely to be used, all I need to do now is build the rest of the board round it......

Excellent, I've been waiting for this!

For this to work the movements would have to be smooth and natural, and you've clearly made that work very effectively. In fact it looks more smooth than on the original layout!

The buildings look very good too.

PS: I have to ask about the filming! Is the camera on a tram/train moving alongside?

Took a little bit of trial and error to get it running right, but not too much really. The instructions show the road surface glued onto the plastic chain supports, I ended up building up around the chain guide with Miliput and car body filler to get a soild under road surface as Grime St is pretty much only used for exhibitions so I didn't want anything that was going to get damaged easily.

The road surface is recommended to be card no greater than .5mm thick, I did try 20 thous plasticard as an experiment, but the smooth surface doesn't create enough friction for the clear wheel to rotate properly, if you sand it to create a rough surface it squeaks horribly. The section over the drive unit is plasticard so it can be removed should the chain split etc. It's reinforced with a section of brass as the road surface keeps the drive gears in position.

Filming? Well, I'm a bit chuffed that you think it any good, I'm useless with a camera, to be honest I've left a little ledge along thefront as this will be where the tram rail will have to but upto the road surface, so I just slid the camera along that ledge.

I'll stick some pics up of the entire thing in the next day or two which will show and explain pretty much all this that I've experimented with.

What scale are you working in?

Lisa

Grime St is 4mm/ft OO gauge although the cyclist is nominally 3.5mm/ft.
