Up hill - but not a struggle!

blog-0508672001381877552.jpgManaged a bit more on my little hill today. Firstly I built up a couple of areas with decorators caulk as the picture I am working from shows a very defined gully which looks like it has been used a short cut many times and has worn a distinct groove in the bank. When this had set(ish), a good old dollop of chocolate ganache - well that is what it looked like! Plaster, brown paint and PVA in reality. I then made up some basic forms for the hedge that sits atop the rise out of various bit of wire, covered these in goo, sprayed them and then planted with a good mulch of PVA.

After this lot had settled down a good coat of neat PVA was applied and then a layer of my dried garden soil.

The white on the picture is just the wet PVA so no need to worry about this but I do think I might have made the hedges a bit too tall so a spot of pruning will be in order tomorrow

I hadn't read this blog before, as military railways are not my thing. I've just spent an interesting hour reading most of your posts, however, and found them full of useful ideas :)  I'll continue to read with interest.

Blimey - a whole hour! Glad you liked it and it has been really useful as a spur to me to keep things moving as I am not renown for finishing things! This is turning into a really interesting project with an awful lot of new challenges which are all the more interesting as I am not a military modeller.
