Hello :)

Well, there were times when I didnt think I would ever get this far but I can gladly report Highclere has reached another 'milestone' in its construction. The point rodding is now done...

It took roughly 14ft of rodding, 30 etched cranks, 700 etched stools, and 2 years (on and off) to get this far and I am glad its now done.

Missy :)

Ballasting next, once Christmas and New Year are out of the way...

Fantastic!!  I hope you're feeling very proud - you should be!  Point rodding is rarely modelled in the smaller scales, which always leaves the scene looking like something is missing in my opinion - It may have been a lot of work but it really has been worth it for the overall impression of the layout.  Well done!

That looks magnificent; great combination of knowledge, skill, patience and determination in evidence there Julia. Be proud of it.

Hurrah! Congratulations on making it through. The photos show clearly that it was worth it. Must have been an ordeal in 2mm. I hope this frees up time and mind to move on with more of your unique creations.

Beautiful craftsmanship! The list of quantities make humbling reading and I can't imagine the amount of patience needed to get the rodding so perfect. Can't wait to see the ballast go down.

Just think Julia, after you've had a little lie down in a dark room following the point rodding marathon you have ballasting to look forward to. Remind me, why is it we do this................?!!!:-)

Ah yes, because when its done it looks great and gives us enormous satisfaction. As others have said, fantastic stuff and well worth the effort.

Great stuff.  You now need to do some serious partying in celebration :)

When I see it at an exhibition, I shall have to ask "Who does the kit for that?" [run]

Mike,

Designing your own kits is very rewarding - they take a lot of work but - you can have them exactly how you want them!

Thank you again folks, most appreciated :)

I totally agree with Rich too, designing kits can be very rewarding. Especially once they are built and finished. If anyone needs any help designing something then there are always people willing to help (myself included)
