Hi all,

just a quick, mainly pictorial, post this time with the latest bodyshell (Mark 12??) for the N Gauge Class 139. I'm moderately happy with the finish this time, it will be improved immeasurably with the flush side glazing to be installed between now and the weekend when the mini-people mover will be operating on Kinlet Wharf's branch line at the Stafford Show.

Do come and say hello, I'll be there pretending to know what I'm doing (randomly jabbing at buttons)

Chassis: Kato Tram Body: Google Sketchup / Shapeways Frosted Ultra Detail 3D Print Paint: In a hurry......

Seen here on Wyre Forest MRC's Kinlet Town *bits of which look oddly like the real Parry HQ....

The close ups are typically cruel... though I'm pleased with the little 'n' in the blue roundel! (Fineline pen).

Looking forward to the weekend... some hotel room modelling between now and then should see this little railcar finished (ish). See you all in Stafford. :imsohappy:

I can appreciate what a difficult job painting that must have been. Keeping a steady hand over the various curves and ledges is not easy, especially on something so small. The dark green swoosh over black along the body sides is particularly impressive - not to mention the letter 'n' on purple circle! Impressive.

Thank you for your kind comments, much appreciated!

Jez, I do keep thinking the next one will be sprayed dark blue to suit winter services on the Cornish branch line I keep meaning to build.... Or maybe I could just 'cascade' this one with some FGW stickers like you see with '153s!

The secret with painting the little thing is to get the order right. After a whole afternoon in an ultrasonic bath to remove printing wax, it was first primered, then the ends were sprayed yellow, then the grey added over that with blu tak to mask the ends. The black and green are achieved with the green first followed by black marker pen (the edge of a credit card shaped thing is useful in drawing the curves in).

The little 'n' roundel was a blob of white paint first, followed by a shape like an upturned copyright logo penned in over it with blue ink... just in case anyone thought i'd painted the 'n' in white with a brush!
