A start on the backscene.

I've been planning to do a backscene for the layout for a long time, but back trouble in the last few months has put me off doing any major bending and stretching. However, I'm a lot better now, and have made a start as can be seen here.

It's painted in acrylics on MDF, and eventually will go down the whole length of the layout.

It's meant to suggest Mid Wales though the precise location in the area to the North East of Aberllefeni is fictitious.

WOW, that is some serious talent. If you hadn't said I would have assumed it was a photo backscene. Stunning.

Fantastic , A wild & windy looking sky!  Now that really is how to set a mood.

Can't wait to see more of this one! .......Paul

Thank you both for the kind comments.  There's still a lot to do - blending the real landscape and backscene, and doing the other end of the layout with a distant view of Cadair Idris.  I'l try to post a bit more frequently than I have been doing.

That is just about the best backscene I've ever seen. It completely defines the layout and it's mood. Who needs a railway anyway, when we have this :-)  It really raises the bar, I'll join the chorus asking for more, please!

Just read the whole thread, drawn in by spotting this backdrop over my first coffee of the day. Overall standard is very high, really set off by this backscene. Shouldn't there be some sheep?
