Magnorail Cyclist.......

Red Devil

As per the recent entry Grime Street board 3 made its public debut at the Festival of Model Tramways last weekend.....

The whole event wasn't without stress and drawbacks as I didn't quite manage to get quite a few things finished in time (ie stringing the overhead at 11.30, painting the road surface at 12.30 the night before and the weathering the road surface at 5 am before loading and heading for the show is not good for your stress levels)

However the one thing that did perform faultlessly was the Magnorail Cyclist, unfortunately as yet unpainted....

I hope you can forgive the few things that are obviously not done but here's a video done by my assistant and life saver for the day Andy Burrows aka Purple door, the light blue Leeds post war car shown is also his latest masterpiece completed in time for the festival......note to self if others can manage that so can I....maybe next year!!

Looks smooth and convincing. Thanks once again for sharing your experiences with the cyclist, it's been very instructive and clearly also a worthwhile project. He looks a bit lonely though, how about a dozen more? ;-)

No chance! one was enough!!! That said I have a couple of BSA motorbikes to play with next, whilst they won't have the 'leg action' they should provide a bit more interest.

Yeah it was worthwhile, the guys from Magnorail helped with a couple of queries very quickly and very clearly, the hardest part for me was blending the required card surface into my existing plaster road surface, but in the end it was ok. I used colour washes to get it right and obviously these are wet which did cause a little sagging in places over the track, first few runs after painting the road surface were 'oh what have I done' as it developed a couple of tight spots. a good hour or two running cleared these and it performed faultlessly pretty much for 2 days solid, only once did it 'throw an eppy' and come of the magnet partially.

It's not really a retro fit as the depth of the track precludes this to a degree, in my opinion, but yeah something a bit different and amuses kids of all ages (5-80) whilst on exhibition....which is what it's all about in my book.

Motorbikes, that sounds interesting - and I can see that they would be easier!
