The final building ….

Job's Modelling

When I started building the yard I got a problem. I couldn’t find a fitting texture from Scalescenes for the yard ground.

After some try outs I decided to build the yard with a part of the shop from the corner shop kit.

As you can see I had to use just a part of my Odeon movie board.

I just my preferred methods to build the building and the yard.

Now the scene is finished it is time to show the final step from black & white to color.

Next step was to put the figures in place:

And to show the real size of my A4 diorama and how it is build up this picture gives a nice impression:

I have made some more pictures to use in my Northall story. But that is for a later entry.

But I have a personal favorite:

I hope you have enjoyed the journey as much as I have.

There is still one thing to do. Making my APA-box ready to put this little diorama in.

Advices and comments are much appreciated.

Regards,

Job

Excellently done. I particularly love the stains on the rendering above Walden Books.

Thankyou for the journey, Job! With the figures and last details it all comes fully alive. A wonderful scene. I can understand why the last shot is your favourite - it's brilliant.

The way the lighting shows in Walden works very well too, I think. The shot from above is interesting, I didn't realize there was so much distance between the warehouse and the arch fronts. It's one of those things that 2D photos don't always show.

What's the next project? I'm impatient already :-)

Thanks Barry, I love to do this kind of weathering.

The lighting is still not final, but gives a good impression of what I want when the diorama is placed in the APA-box.

I personally love the final appearance or the book shop. I'm also pleased with the blue scenes (movie poster, yard door and record shop front).

I have finished my story line. So the next project will be the start of the story introducing my protagonist. I still have to make a design for the diorama. To give you a hint :

the Victorian era and Edward Hopper inspired me for this diorama.

Really lovely Job:-) How about a cat watching over the scene, sat on the wall above the door on the right of the diorama.

Thanks Dave,

I like the idea of the cat on the yard wall. Will see if I have one somewhere around here.

Victorian era and Hopper, that's an unusual combination! I think I may have an idea, something to do with coffee...

By the way, I hadn't realized that Hopper did some paintings of the New York subway (I assume it is). The second painting on this page would make an interesting diorama for someone - I know it's not your location and style:

Then I came across this (enhanced) photo, which is so much like a Hopper painting you begin to wonder what is real and what is art!

Hmm, I thought you were going to do a coffee shop. I can't guess it! I will have to wait and see :-)

That looks like a good figure! But what is an Ipad doing in the 1950s? :-)

Reading book, not an E-book according to the description on the webpage of Monty's Models.

I will see how it looks like when I have the model at home.

Other wise it is wise-full thinking, with an E-book there is no need of reading glasses.
