The "On Shed" Module

Having spent time this afternoon organising the blogs indexing, I realised I should probably document some of the other layouts.

So here is some more information about the other On30 Module. Both modules have been built as part of the Cheshire Railway Modellers On30 layout. They dont come together often, in fact they will make there debute together at our show in January. Based on our OO modules that have had several outings. The principal is simple, individual club members make their own module. The only constant is the height from the table to the underside of the rails, in the On30 modules case 4". The modules are generally around 3' long and there is no intention to make the scenery flow from one module to another. The whole concept is to view a train passing through snapshots of locations.

My "On shed" module differs from the other modules slightly, in that it only has access from one side, the rest have an in and out on either end.

The idea is that the modules line up with a fiddle yard at each end, "on shed" then sits on the outside of the left fiddle yard, rather than storing the locos hidden away in the fiddle yard, they drop off stock there and pass through to be dispalyed in the shed.

Connection between modules is created by short (4") lengths of track we call bridges, with fishplates on each end. This means any module links to any with no line up problems.

On shed.

Based around a Dapol OO turntable kit. Using Pecos On30 track.

I like the modular concept! Nice model too - got a plan of your module, or an overall plan of all modules when put together? :D

This may help get a feel for the modules when together, this was at Crewe with modules from 4 CRM members
