Re-booting my modelling

I struggle to find the time to get any modelling done, with work, kids and a wife who works shifts, and the amount of kits I've stockpiled over the years probably hasn't helped the situation. I've started a few a couple of years ago, pre-covid, but then kept as time has passed, I've dreaded trying to tackle them once again, not knowing what to do first.

But after visiting TINGS and the Wigan show, I've got some mojo back after being inspired by layouts there (and also comforted that not all modelling needs to be 100% accurate to reach "exhibition standard")

So I had a chat with myself, and agreed that even if I could squeeze in n 30 minutes a day here and there, it was better than nothing.

Adopting this approach has worked for me over the last couple of weeks.

First off I've managed to finish detailing a set of Farish freightliner flats, using re-released TPM detailing kit and N gauge society Ride control bogies. Loaded with a mixture of C-Rail and Farish containers. I'm pretty happy with the results.

I agree about the "30 minutes a day" approach, it has also worked well for me. You may not get much done per session, but it adds up over time and the key thing is that it keeps the modelling flowing and becomes a habit. It also helps to focus, i.e. in 30 minutes it's only possible to do one or two tasks - or "subtasks" - but each little task then becomes an exercise and goal in itself, rather than rushing.

Looking good so far.

Getting a few kits finished should help shift the paralysis of "what do I do next???"  After you've got a few completed, you'll start to know what you do next in some cases...

I would suggest the Chivers SSA ought to be a fairly easy win too
