Back to the NSE class 47

I've glued the cab handrails back on (well, the three sets I took off as I overlooked one set and they remained on during the paint

and transfer process - ooops) and basically I think all the painting is complete and sealed with matt varnish. Just remains to take

a deep breath and risk tackling some weathering, or should I, err, ummm......

Go on, weather it, you know it makes sense!

I was going to ask if you're going to have a go at modifying the underframe, but 547 retained its tanks so that's sorted!

It's looking very nice so far

Superb finish on this Graham! I can't believe it's N-gauge!

Did you say the white / red stripes were a transfer? I wonder if it's a little over scale as the white band seems a touch too high compared to the prototype? 47547 The top of the white band is roughly inline with the bottom of the headcode panel. I think you could disguise it with a lining pen loaded with NSE blue ran along the top edge of the white stripe to just reduce it a little. I'm really hope you take this in the way it's intended - it's a lovely model and the very high standard you achieve with your modelling is a source of inspiration for me (and I'm sure many others!).

I only ask because in 4mm, the Fox transfers for a Mainline freight Class 37 are overscale too - both the stripe and the logo and I keep meaning to email them about it!

PS I can't tell you've painted over any handrails! I guess they're tiny anyway? Less than 0.25mm wire?

The bottom section white/red/white/grey are a Fox transfer.

The top of the white (against the blue) lines up with the centre/top of the marker lights and is probaby about half a mil too high. I wanted to get it lower but was very concerned that would push the lower grey stripe off the scale and leave it almost non existant at the bottom of the skirt. I also think the red band is too thin. To add a line of paint/ink over the white to lower it would not only be beyond my capabilities but would probably leave an obvious odd stripe - I think I'll give it a miss, but acknowledge your comments. Perhaps next time I'll trim the transfer before adding it.
