Roof vent

I have been trying to work out how to make the circular fan cover for the roof,

In the end I couldn't come up with a clever plan so had to resort to cutting and filling it out of a piece of 60thou plasticard. I marked it out, drilled holes, then opened them up with a square needle file :( an hour of filling later I had a grid pattern and I just needed to cut off the outside to make it circular. Then glue on. I must be mad ??

I did have plans to cut out under the grill but decided it was far to fragile to be self supporting as a grill so I guess I will cheat and paint it black between the vents ! Not sure it would have been good to have a big hole in the top if it ever got caught running out in rain !

The only other thing happening is sanding and filling ! Every time I think I have got it right I give it a light dusting with primer and find a lump or hole i have missed !!! But there are less now than there was !

These last couple of shots have the OO Bachmann 25 riding piggy pack to answer a couple of people question as to just how big this is..

That really is exceedingly nice. Good work on the grille, too, although I'd have thought some sort of netting or mesh, cut into a circle and laid in place, would have taken rather less work! I'm racking my brains to think where I've seen something suitable - what are we looking at, 2 inch diameter or so?
