Welcome to Meanach

26035 working 2P14 Tulloch - Perth School train.

Welcome to Meanach. A lonely passing place set half way between Tulloch on the West highland line and Newtonmore on the central highland main line. A proposed route for mainly freight traffic that in this parallel universe was opened in 1905. A hamlet dominated by high hills and the perthshire mountains amid ferocious rivers with the sound of EE Type 3s slipping on the heavy gradients either side of the island station.

That looks fantastic - thought it was a real photo at first...

Do you have a blog/thread running on this or is this the intro?

Hi all. Firstly thanks for the positive feedback. This is the first layout I have built since 1991 when i was 16! It is only 1/3rd built at the moment. It is almost a circle , 12ft with 2 x 6 foot sides leading into 2 (unbuilt) fiddle yards . The majority of the track is down but scenically only the river (with bridge) , gradient and gorge and stream are near to being finished. It has an island platform with loco spur and a small timber yard with head shunt. It's set October - early november 1987 or 88. It features class 26s working timber towards Perth as well as 37/4s handling speedlink and the odd passenger .
