PLN: 2mmFS Micro tester

backofanenvelope

One of my many! backofanenvelope plans surfaced the other day whilst going through a old hard drive and thought that this would do for my first venture into 2FS layout building. It will be a test bed for many things and is going to be around four foot long-ish. Based on a NER fictional location named after a place I lived in many years ago it will have a simple track plan apart from a 3 way point at the eastern end of the yard. I am going to have a go at Temploting this later tonight if I get the chance.

Please post your templot version... I would be keen to have a play with this layout too :)

Although given my luck of recent I will likely attempt to do it in settrack... maybe it will help stop me getting so discouraged so quickly...

That's brave going for a 3 way so soon :O

Good luck with it - looks to be a nice project and if the 3 way doesn't map out, it looks like you could substitute it :D

Hi Kiwinewt, I can sen you the box file but you will need Templot to edit it, sorry if I have missed the obvious and you do have it! Think you plan looks good, and as Nike say "just do it" part of the reason for my just doing it was I didn't mind making mistakes and moving on and learning from my mistakes.

@Pete, moi ambitious? Well I am going to build that last and will have some more practice in between! ;) but your right I kinda left it that way thinking that the 3way would get the better of me..

I would be tempted to change the engine shed into a goods shed.

The problem for me is getting a short way into it and having *everything* else coming up, leading to not being able to get anything done on it for months... and then losing motivation to do anything more. I think with settrack it should help this, and help me get things done faster/easier, in turn letting me play trains sooner for more motivation :)

The best thing to do is download the videos and watch those step by step, and then do a little as frequently as possible and then you will become more comfortable with Templot. It took my ages, to be able to work reasonable quickly at it but perseverance is needed :) Also the Templot forum is an excellent place to learn and there is no shortage of knowledgeable and friendly people there.. but yes get playing trains and the motivation will return.
