Callow Lane signalbox - part 3b - painted furniture

I've gradually been painting the interior detail items for the signalbox over the last few days, here are some photos taken this afternoon, in all the cruel detail that only a digital enlargement can offer... ;)

Most of the furniture still isn't secured, and the floor is yet to be painted. I should finish painting the interior walls first, before much else is done...

The fact that the floor isn't painted is very clear in this view, as are the brush marks on the lever frame, although that just won't be apparent when the windows are in. Also, painting of the floor will cover the untidy black around the grate area...

Finally, details of the block shelf. I could add a few plungers along the front face of the block shelf, but these won't really be visible from normal viewing angles, so not sure at the moment...

There is still some detail to be added, including a signalman, Train Register Book, a couple of 'box-to-box' phones on the wall above the bigger cupboard, a noticeboard and probably a couple of newspapers on the side...

Wot, no lino (on the floor that is)? Tim, In my experience most Western Region 'boxes had lino on the floor although it might now be to late for that and floorboards it will be? Looks rather fine for all that and despite the 'funny' Midland lever frame.

I think that I've got some in the garage Tim, shall I look it out for you?

It would give you that lovely smell that would enhance the whole thing!dry.gif

You should do a 'Bath Green Park' and make the roof transparent so that the viewer can see all that lovely stuff inside!

Hmm, been thinking about that, wondering if some 5 thou could pass muster. It's not actually too late....

That looks really impressive! I have put some detail in the Trefallion Signal Box (shelf for block instruments, levers, cupboard, stool, and fire-place), but eventually I intend putting further detail in too, especially some notices on the walls and other objects that I think will be obvious - there is a grain-of-wheat bulb inside which nicely illuminates it all.

I will have to post a photo to show off the interior detail that is there

I've now put a lino floor in it, made from 5 thou plasticard epoxied to the original Ratio planked floor (Mek would have likely distorted the 5 thou). I'll trim the edges tomorrow and re-fit the interior to the box.
