Hi folks.

I have has quite a quiet week on the modelling front for a variety of reasons.

Progress on the scenery has not happened- apart from having to repair the low relief hill above the tunnel mouth which somehow got damaged - serves me right for standing it upright I suppose!

Ran an engine at the weekend and discovered an electrical fault which took me some time to track down. Turned out to be caused by the clay having moved a rail slightly - enough to make contact with the rail end next to it. At least a clip with the cutters remedied it easily enough once found. Should have left a bigger gap in the first place probably!

Finally, I have finished the station house ( or cottage as I believe it was known). It doesn't fare well under too much enlargement but isn't a bad facsimile from normal viewing distance.

I should really add a bit more guttering though.

I am still awaiting some info regarding a couple of aspects of the prototype, and until I get that progress will be a bit slow.

Regards,

Chris

The building looks full of character - far more important than absolute accuracy.

- not sure about the patio though

Nice work, What materials did you use? and what are windows done with?

how did you do your creeping plant on the front as well?

HI.

The windows were a problem because I couldn't find anything etchwise which was correct.( It would be really useful if BH Enterprises etc provided pictures of their products).

I decided in the end to try putting each part of the frame in individually ( cut from thin plasticard strip), as far as the 4 sides, the central post and the sills went. I then relied on scoring the smaller parts of the frame on the glazing plastic. Once installed, I then used a very fine brush to run a little paint into the score lines, just to suggest the framework.

As I said, it looks ok from normal viewing distance.

I have no idea what colour the paintwork of the original was ( only bw photos exist) but it doesn't seem to be dark enough to be Midland red/ maroon, as with the booking office etc.

The wall lattice was created by soldering overlapping fine brass wire. The plant itself is simply Woodland Scenics light turf teased out slightly, with a light scatter added.
