Hello :)

Its been while since my last post (and that wasnt even about railways!) so a post was due really. I always seem to end up having a modelling lull around this time of the year, after all its holiday season but even without any holidays on the horizon I still end up not doing alot! Anyway here is what I have been upto since my last post....

Firstly I have been making a few bits, there isnt any fantastic progress to report but there has been some progress. After the toad brake van I moved onto making some more signals on Wednesday and Friday evenings at the MRC in Abingdon and the progress is shown above. On the left are the two fixed distant signals I need at each end of Highclere and the three to the right are the beginnings of more starter signals I also need.

Secondly today I popped into Didcot Railway Centre to see the Railmotor (finally!). All I can say is that is amazing, the finest bits of engineering / restoration I have ever seen.

Finally I couldnt really add a post on what I have been upto without mentioning the van. I have spent quite a bit of time working away on the interior to try and 'tidy it up a little'. Before and after photos below for those who are interested...

As well as the signals, that van looks great...with those lights and plush interior, you could even exhibit a layout in there!...

Wow! Do you want to do my new van when I get it? lol What did you use for the lining?

The railmotor looks fantastic, I'll have to drag myself down to Didcot sometime.

Nice work on the van and the signals. The railmotor looks good I have a model of one in 0 gauge which runs like a dream but I doubt I could build one in 2mm even if there was a kit.

Thanks guys :)

I am happy with the result inside the van. There is still much to do though and no doubt more money to spend on it but for now it will do. I got the lining from ebay, if you search for 'van lining' there is plenty to choose from. The lights are LED decking lights which being 12v are ideal.

The railmotor is simply fantastic, I would recommend going to see it sometime. I delieve the GWS at Didcot is celibrating some kind of annerversary soon in September and they have a multitude of engines running. I think I will be popping along for that. I would love to build a 2mm model of it sometime though.

The signals will eventually be controlled by the MERG SEMA4 controllers. I have them and have had 'a play' with them and was impressed with them. My thinking was to get all the signals built first before moving onto the mechanisms to control them. I have an idea in my head so it hopefully will be just a case of building them.

Hi Missy.

Well as they said - it all looks superb. Those signals have a look of real craftmanship about them - almost a pity you have to paint them! Know what you mean about the "summer lull" in model making. But now we have the whole modelling season to look forward to :-)

Hi Missy as always your workmanship's top notch on to the signals did you ever do the write up on how your previous signals operated ?

or am i right in thinking you now have a new cunning plan ?
