Populating the Old Midland
Greetings to anyone still out there.
I have to confess to being a tad lazy in moving the Glenfield model on. Thoughts of vegetation has not exactly filled me with excitement, and other mini projects, such as a signal, has been tried and consigned to the bin to be tacked again.
So it's not that I've been doing nowt, its more that the bits of tweaking have not warranted an entry really.
For example, I've rearranged the buildings in the goods yard slightly and added some fencing.
Today I thought I would get some of my little folk and blutack them onto the layout to see if it made it come to life.
I am not a great fan of overpopulating layouts, cramming things in makes it look unrealistic to my eye.
Certainly the passenger figures for Glenfield have never justified having more than a couple of passengers on the platform, unless its an excursion.
Similarly, my first thought was to position 2/3 carts and wagons, but they were quickly removed again. Too busy!
I doubt I'll use more than a few items on this layout in total, because it needs to look like a sleepy village somewhere.
Here are a couple of pictures of not great depth of field, to give an idea of where I 'm going with the population issue.
I've just noticed the level crossing gates - still not repaired and now lifted slightly . Tut tut.
Regards,
Chris
