Followers 1 I finished the second row of Howard Scenics cottage fronts the other day, and finally took some photos out doors today while the sun was out (well, mostly): Here is what they look like from the back, posed on the layout: 22

RMweb Gold Mikkel 24,932 Posted February 19, 2012 RMweb Gold Lovely. The outside light shows off the brick colour shade really well - not to mention the quality of your work! Link to comment
RMweb Premium DavidLong 1,408 Posted February 19, 2012 RMweb Premium Excellent work, Tim. The Howard Scenics kits make up into lovely models. It just makes me more jealous of the fact that they have never been produced in 2mm scale :-( Link to comment
Mike G 242 Posted February 19, 2012 Superb! There's definitely a knack to getting the best out of the Howard scenics range...and you've obviously cracked it. Please pass on your secrets! Mike Link to comment

Nigelcliffe 2,610 Posted February 19, 2012 Very nice. How did you form the gutters ? (Mine are not yet at gutter stage, but will be soon). Link to comment
Chubber 2,122 Posted February 20, 2012 First-class work, top-hole, Tim, I really will have to try a Howards Scenic model or two, I fancy the shops. Doug Link to comment

RMweb Gold Captain Kernow 59,166 Posted February 21, 2012 RMweb Gold Very nice. How did you form the gutters ? (Mine are not yet at gutter stage, but will be soon). Hi - the guttering is in fact modified Wills plastic guttering or downpipes, so it's actually solid but when painted black or dark matt grey, and with much of it hidden under the overhang of the tiles, you don't notice it. What I do is to drill the plastic guttering section with a 0.4mm hole in four places and epoxy some 15 amp fuse wire in the holes (trying not to break through at the front of the gutter!). Corresponding holes are then drilled in the front of the building and the guttering glued in place. The use of bendy fuse wire means you can adjust the guttering slightly. The downpipes are 0.9mm brass rod, fixed to the walls in the same way, although using small loops of 5 amp fuse wire to do so. 1 Link to comment
