Twas the night before Christmas GJLC and all was quiet. Well that's not true for a start. Planned modelling time yesterday evaporated so today has been designated a day for muddling testing and generally trying to get everything done.
Plus points
The layout is up and test running has commenced - minor issues have been tweaked and most of the track is clean.
The locos seem to work! Fingers crossed.
Most of the points still switch - soldering iron is out to attack the problem one.

With the 2mm expo getting very close I'm sure I should be panicking, but other things just seem to keep getting in the way. Modelling time has been exceptionally restricted for the past 9 months so very little has been done, however over the past couple of weeks I have found a little time to start building a little more stock for the layout. It's not finished but I'm hoping that another week will see it painted, then I might get a chance to build a 2nd Toplight.

Having concentrated on the scenic side of things for quite a while. I finally remembered that I really should get round to completing the track and wiring on the second fiddle yard as for some reason the trains just don't go without power. Not like the real thing at all hmm! So having a couple of hours free today I finally added the last section of track - less than 30mm on the southbound fiddle yard and then wired up the whole thing. Well today I have managed to do the first bit of modelling for about 6 weeks. Wasn't much. I just added some more "enamel" posters to the station fencing, and added some sheep to the field behind the siding. I have also added dcc chips to the 108. Quick easy job that one. I must get round to changing the wheel sets for proper 2mm ones. Not much admittedly but a something is better than nothing. Maybe I can get a little bit more done now!
At some point in the future this will become the home of Avonwick. My entry into the 2mm associations Golden Jubilee layout competition. Progress on Avonwick is currently at a halt due to a lack of time as I am currently back at Uni doing a PGCE. I do hope to get a day or two at some point over Christmas to add to it though.
