This Parkside kit has been slwloy moving from the errecting shop through to the paint shop and the signwriter has recently finsihed lettering it.

The kit has been slightly modified, with representations of the brake rigging for the clasp brakes (ABS castings) have been added, as well as Coopercraft/Blacksmith ethced grills behind the windows.

However, the CCT has not (yet) been compenstated - if running trials indicate compensation of this long-wheelbased vehicle will help, I will probably use the Shire Scenes/Dart/MJT inside bearing compenstation units for 3'7 inch wheels. The next job will be galzing, fitting the roof - and replaceing the inappropariate disc wheels with Maunsell wood centred wheels. Fitting the roof, however, may be delayed as at the moment I can find no information on the positioning of the rainstrips. Any suggestions?

Hmm, I built one of these years ago, with the MJT inside-bearing units. It didn't work all that well for me, so it will eventually be changed over to run on Bill Bedford sprung W-irons.

In Russell's Pictorial Record of GW Coaches part II there are 3 pictures of the P19 Python: 580 in the official picture (as built?) has two full length strips on the pictured side, but these are not visible on the photo of it in 1949. Note that this was the specially strengthened one off for carrying elephants. The third picture is of 569, same livery as the 1949 shot of 580, again no visible waterstrips.

Raymond Walley has a note on his build and review of the Scorpio Python A : "The pictures in Russell's book shew one vehicle with rain strips on the roof as well but that is the vehicle that was specially strengthened for carrying elephants, the remainder had neither strips nor ventilators on the roof."..

Hope that helps...
