  1. Great shot of fusilier there so life like. Richard.
  2. Cracking model there phil of a western but I can only drool over the model that I cant have and had to keep my Heljan fleet. Richard.
  3. Hi phil Lovely model mate but can I ask what transfers you have used as I have made a mistake on numbering my 37034 to D6753 in blue livery. I have noticed that my numbers for a pre tops version are set to high as should be in line with the small grilles. I have due to replica railways no longer doing rub on transfers ordered from modelmaster as prefer rub ons.I have also sprung buffered my version as didn't, have them. Richard.
  4. Yes I to would love to see a ready to run big Ed class 74 as well as new versions of the class 117 dmu.. Richard.
  5. Sorry 2nd best looking to a deltic no way, should have gone to spec-savers the western is the best looking loco ever built, yes the deltic had the best sound and shear power look but the western was a beautiful design. No doesn,t get his coat. Richard.
  6. Goes to show how with a bit of time and effort the Heljan western can look, well done. Know for the brakegear. Richard.
  7. Good to see someone else has kept faith with the Heljan wizzo. Great shots. Richard.
  8. Although I have had many a misfortune with the Dapol version I envy those that have them running to all there glory. Plenty being sold on the lord and butler versions at the Peterborough show last satuaday. Richard.
  9. Any photo of a 52 is worth seeing, thanks for showing. richard
  10. I have a few old wheelsets but are from Heljan class 47s which don't match a western. Heljan don't do replacement ones for a western which is a downer. Latest on my western fleet is that I am looking and at re filing the roof to correct shape over the cab which means removing the horn block. This allows to file down even further and have tested on my D1041 by replacing the horn grille with plasticard filed and shaped to suit once happy with the roof shape.Doing this has made a difference but will only suit by having a dirty roof once done. All keeping me busy but hardly getting running time as I have now found out I have 2 hymeks giving me running problems. Richard.
  11. Latest photos of hydraulics on my layout know incuding D1015. Check out the layout in video on you tube under old oak common layout. Richard.
  12. In earlier posts I have brought to the fore all the problems in running a Dapol western and stating there is a problem with the circuit board and seems to be more evident in running on dc. Will Dapol be looking into this before the next batch as with derailing issues. Richard.
  13. Phil Alas no did not see her but thanks to those that did on youtube the sight and sound brings it all back. Richard.
  14. Welcome back champion, maybachs on full boar yesterday. Richard.
  15. To many problems in this day of age on a great looking model have kept me busy detailing my Heljan fleet up. At least they run straight from the box. Richard.
  16. My list know due to not getting on with dapols version includes. D1000 blue D1010 maroon D1011 fresh repaint blue D1015 latest awaiting arrival maroon D1023 blue D1026 blue D1030 early blue D1040 maroon D1041 maroon full yellow ends D1045 maroon full yellow ends D1054 maroon D1057 early blue D1062 maroon All fully detailed up with roof fans and bogie brakes aligned to wheels and brake rodding.Baseball cap effect removed and filed down. All run very well except D1041 which may need a new motor. Richard
  17. Thanks I knew id miss one or 2. I am to believe Heljan released D1048 in green livery at some point as well a livery she carried in preservation only. For the record these are still not going cheap.I have just forked out £85 for a D1040 as there are rare and will become D1015 in her last days of maroon. Richard.
  18. I am to believe that Heljan produced the following. 2 versions of D1000 glossed and un-glossed. D1001 maroon glossed. D1002 green glossed. D1004 green D1010 maroon D1012 full yellow ends maroon D1013 blue D1015 golden ochre D1023 blue domino headcode D1030 early blue red buffer beam D1036 green D1037 green D1040 maroon D1041 full yellow ends maroon D1047 early blue D1058 blue D1067 blue And D1073 blue If I have missed any maybe someone can fill the gaps. Word of note is D1002/D1004/d1010/D1013/D1015/D1036/D1037/D1041/D1047/D1058 AND D1067 are fitted with brass wheel sets. Hope this helps. Richard
  19. D1045 also carried different windscreen wipers.D1049/1065 and D1071 also lossed headboard clips on one end. As phil mentioned the Dapol western is based around a Swindon machine. Richard.
  20. Nothing wrong with thunderer a firm favourite of mine. Will also suit ex venturer well as venturer would have had headboard clips removed one end in blue livery thunderer did not. Richard.
  21. For the record and it has been mentioned a few times I have tried out 7 westerns including 2 returned from dcc supplies and all have derailed badly/lights not working and running very slow. I was bitten not once but went on to find a good one but it was not to be.Know my 2 class 22s have also had lights stop working with all including the westerns burning out the blanking plate. I run dc and have over 40 other makes of loco and had no problems with these to date. To me it sounds to be a circuit board error somewhere but with the derailing of all westerns I gave up. May be these faults can be ironed out before the next batch, but if we don't report these problems then how can it be sorted. Poor qc also springs to mind. Sorry for having to report my frustration but I waited and tried and listened to members help and offers for months but the models have failed me. richard
  22. So its just not me highlighting problems with the western which I gave up trying in the end. Richard.
  23. Heres my finished version off D1026 pre 1967/68 condition along side other Heljan western photos. Richard.
