Triumph cars and the 1970s! During the 70s and 80s our family was almost exclusively a triumph family including 3 heralds (1 convertible), a 2.5 pi mark 1 saloon, a mark 1 2.5pi estate, my father had a Toledo 1300 (on a k plate) which was the same body style as your 1500 - I always thought the 1300 and 1500 were similar body style to the mark big saloons. And the body style that you own were known as the Toledo and dolomite. I was lucky enough in 1980 to buy a 1972 Stag which I absolutely loved and kept for 18 years.

In my opinion running a loco for the first time on a new layout is up there in there as one of the best feelings! Always loved IOW railways. Well done Chris waiting for the next instalment now so no pressure.

It all sounds very clever, too clever for me I'm afraid. I would be interested to see the result. There a number of questions that I have asked myself and I don't know the answers. What I do know is that modelling is all things to all people and we all do it for different reasons and results. There is some snobbery in the hobby but I guess that's the same for all hobbies, just because I build a kit doesn't mean that I get more or less enjoyment from the hobby than a collector or somebody who runs something straight from the box, we are all creating a miniature representation of our world for our own personal reasons. Diversity and sharing different aspects of the hobby is just one of the many reasons I love "playing trains". Good luck, and if you need any questionaires completed or want my views or background to my modelling please don't hesitate to ask. I am certainly not a great modeller, probably what the Railway Modeller would call an average modeller,

Catering at a lot of events is at best marginal, not just model railway exhibitions and caterers seem to want to make as much as possible without supplying a quality product. The problem is that the great British public keep buying sub quality product. Personally I try to take my own snack and then stop at a suitable hostelry on the way home without the crush to relax and reflect on the day. Why waste time at an exhibition eating when you could be watching or playing trains? ;-)
