  1. Hi! I have chosen 30" x 60" inch x 6" deep modules that are still comfortable to be handled by one person, and give problems like these more room. A 2280 x 1140 (8 x 4) provides all the additional support work. Noel
  2. Hattons replacing bad runners will ultimately degrade the offering. - what a way to go! Are all DJM models like this?
  3. + This page is so overprevailing the site should change its name ! Is this what rmweb has now been distilled down to? Noel
  4. Jamie, Have you tried an N20 motor with a gearbox ratio about 60 rpm with purpose designed bevel gears - the whole should sit within the 12mm of the frames See:- /topic/132105-n20-motors-railway-modeller-april-2018/
  5. Hi ! As stated above, current offerings do not meet the need. - these are bespoke for the purpose and affordable as a simple solution. The current eBay item is # 123215503408 (Relisted on trip with more than 10 sold !) Of course these are designed for N20's with the square brass gearboxes The N20 are high reving and 12v geared down to 60 rpm gives excellent torque for small OO locos. On the 0-4-2 SDJR 25a the assembly leaves the Cab free for detail. Noel
  6. Hi ! On eBay.co.uk there are Shapeways 3D HP-Nylon bevel gears bespoke for these N20 motors sold as 2 pairs. Axle Gear is a force fit on a 1/8" axle and has glue lines; the motor gear fits the flat of the motor shaft.
  7. A Bevel Gear set for the N20 type motors, now popular, is available on ebay.co.uk There is a 60rpm option of the motor available. It is in Shapeways printed HP-NYLON material
  8. The choice of material has to be economic in 3D printing; to get a mirror finish from the get-go can be very expensive You can pay £40 or £80 for a set of prints depending on the finish of the material. On 84998-84999 there was fine detail on the Buffer Ends that required FUD for the supplied model: hence the expense and very limited market. The 4mm SDJR No 25a Dazzler is a good case in point. it is difficult to bring it to market for £150 - now who pays that for a colliery shunter kit! With the NRM research and help of "The Man Himself at Didicot", I am proud of what was achieved with the Pollen models.. Noel
  9. Tony, only problem is how do you find anything - esp if you don't have a key? It has become a life force all its own, Noel
  10. There is a cycle to business, of when there is no successor and no buyer with the same devotion to the business. In the past 20 years it has all been patently obvious. Noel
  11. This is for 14mm drivers. I'm going for torque at low speeds with the SDJR 24a Writhlington "Dazzler" The final 1:1 drive of the Bevel Gears is only 60 rpm - flat out (80 mph) rated for 12v ! Shapeways sell the material as suitable for moving parts and esp. in RC models.. Noel
  12. The SDJR 25a Dazzler in 4mm has so far entered it's 4th year. When we talk about improvements, we started with just WSF and FUD from Shapeways now we have FXD and the durability of HP-NYLON too. The original project was redesigned to use the N20 type motor with a gearbox; subsequently available with 60 rpm output on a 192:1 rotor. - they are plentiful and with considerable savings on cost, space.and the added advantage of a considerable torque. Now in just 7cms length of footplate on 14mm Drivers, we also have a clutter free detailed Cab in 4mm scale - as it should be! 3D printing on commercial equipment is expensive. I did not rush into 3D printing but first found models that lent themselves to the process. It is in the fine detail. Noel Sheave Wheels - the ones with spoke nuts! GWR Pollen C - c/w Rub-On Transfers for the 3 pairs.built GWR Pollen E Pre-1930 GWR Pollen E Post 1930 both Pairs SDJR 25a "Dazzler" 0-4-2
  13. "This picture features 3 different 3D print materials (Form 2 Grey Resin, Premium WSF and HP Nylon), as well as cast resin parts, in 16mm scale. " This is one of the features of designing for 3D.Printing; the selection of materials for their particular attributes, where they are needed The SDJR 25a Loco has 4 different materials used for the 3D print of parts.. Noel
  14. SORRY IF THIS IS POSTED TO WRONG STRING! In the last month I have had two Orders via Shapeways LIC successfully printed on their Eindhoven HP-Nylon machine. When I place an order on a second account direct via Shapeways Eindhoven - the same item - it is rejected as a "First Print" without any further option of "Print It Anyway" After an exchange of e-mails I have yet to connect with anyone who understands the tweaks of their product beyond their "Bible". Automated systems still need someone at the helm. Noel
  15. Hi! For the 4mm SDJR 25A I chose one of the N20 motors on ebay with a gear box to provide plenty of torque. Space is limited on an 0-4-2 and the motor had to be tilted to get it totally enclosed by the saddle tank and fire box. 12v models have gear boxes with 100, 80& 60 rpm output. I resorted to a bevel gear set. I wonder if this could also be of use for 2mm locos, especially your pannier tank. Shapeways now do NYLON on an HP Printer at their Eindhoven location. - all orders on NY are currently sent there. My drawings have progressed into Production and I am currently waiting on their print of my gear sets. Noel
  16. Guess what? I am now in the business of producing Dry Transfers from my own source! Noel
  17. There may be possibilities for the S&DJR 20T Brake with the end windows arrangement. Noel
  18. + Commuted from Parkway to Paddington each day from 1980. The car park was allways a mess. 5;59 home non-stop - several runs on 57 minutes. Noel
  19. * There needed to be a solid white line for a distance so that parallel lanes of traffic can match themselves for filtering. - instead it is a trap to look over their shoulder. Noel
  20. + Many years ago I had a Lorry rear-end me filtering from Coronation Road up onto the Long Ashton Bypass - the idiot in front stopped instead of filtering - it was a common occurrence. Still, sandwiched once in over 20 years for the maneuver was not bad odds. Noel
  21. Watching B'mth v L'Pool and having visions of what might have been with the ghosts of Football Specials packed with fans. Noel
  22. + The opportunity to index this thread would have been handy many moons ago. When does rmweb get renamed Wright Writes/ Noel
  23. * Nice to see the dumb buffers. I was contemplating doing a few for Braysdown Colliery on S&DJR Noel.
