  1. The steam heat pipe is tucked around and under the rht hand side buffer, the vac pipe hangs down.
  2. The big problem is that some people do not know what they are looking at, I found that down at the club, yet some do.
  3. My first Fell arrived yesterday, and it was taken down to the club and it attracted a lot of interest, I have to say that it runs superbly. I can’t live with the errors though and will in due corse remedy them, I just have to work out the way to do it using resin castings, ether thick and let them into the body, or thin and put them on top. In short I shall be keeping both model that I ordered.
  4. There were two water tanks and two boilers in between the auxiliary engines, on top of the gear box, looking at the Rht hand end of the central section side on, is where the fluid flywheel drive from the auxiliary engine was, so the loco cannot have one tank! ever.
  5. I did and built it but I thought that this would be better, I have scratch built one in N gauge and built an A1 kit in O gauge by the way.
  6. I wouldn’t want to be the guy that sanctioned the tooling even with the comments early on in this thread on this forum, he did reply that the loco changed throughout its life!! When mine turns up I will alter it to the late black one, as to the green one I will probably cancel it. This requires the filler moving on the early side, the window changing for a grill, extra grills for the ends, and the centre coupling rod removed. I hope to make the grills with resin mouldings from a rubber mold, the tank filler and missing exhaust cut outs fabricated and set in. By the way the full length coupling rod should have the jointing outboard of the centre axels, not inboard, perhaps Mike Edge could make one available.
  7. So have I, it must be the Fell at last!
  8. The model shown in the Hornby mag looks like the EP model, shown some time back, with an early side and a later side on the same model. It also has the incorrect water filler position on the early side, plus the paint finish doesn’t look that great ether!
  9. The Judith Edge 4mm one is the most correct one, considering the effort Mike put into it, the 7mm locomotive is a scaled up 4mm kit from A1 models which has a lot of errors, some of which I managed to correct, ie main body side curve. My scratch built in N gauge is a best guess from looking at photos that I could find at the time.
  10. As I have been quoted, I had better show my history for this loco, N Gauge scratch built early 1980's from my own research, Judith Edge 4mm kit, they probably know more about this loco than many others. O Gauge A1 models special order 7 mm etch built early 2000's, its on the UTube video for Idleford Town. If KR Models have made a one size fits all model, my craft knife and tools are waiting!!
  11. Just found this thread, the Newcomen Society have a paper upon this project history, testing and demise, I have made models of this proposed machine in N and OO Gauge. The drawing in January 1957 Trains Illustrated with the model. The photo shows the N Gauge version crossing the Wicker arch on my old Sheffield Victoria layout.
  12. Many thanks for your input and help, I shall check the file and get it done. Steve
  13. Does anyone use 3rd party’s (ie 3D printing companies other than Shapeways) for their 3D printing needs? steve.
  14. I would probably have two in BR blue grey livery, can’t understand why they haven’t been done before in any scale.
  15. The Retford article brought back memories of the clubs annual pilgrimage to see Roy and the progress made upon his Retford layout, once the initial running section was over Roy would let any other EM gauge modeller run their stock. On one such occasion I took along my single motor kitbuilt DJH Garrett, built as an oil burner towards the end of its life, this was put on one of the longest freight trains and it did four laps of the the layout. Roy used to say that some of the visiting kitbuilt locos wouldn't do the distance! the ones I took did and I have a video of the Garrett pulling the train, and another video of my train of fifteen Scalecraft Roadrailers behind Roy's loco as well. The photos show the Garrett at rest on Retford, and the Roadrailers on my old Trafalgar Yard layout, since sold on.
  16. I remember the Super Deltic being offered by Q kits in the late 1970’s or 80’s as part of the range that Mike Cole produced, did anyone ever make one or buy one?
  17. Just a heads up, there is a Lone Star layout in the March 2021 Continental Modeller!
  18. Brilliant job, will it be available to buy through Shapeways for example?
  19. Whilst getting things ready to photograph, I have found the gear that I had put in a safe place, and the chassis now runs!!, sorry to cause you any trouble. Steve.
  20. Is there a chance of a replacement nylon? motor worm for the gear box with the extender gears for the Fell locomotive?
  21. There is /was a cased rig in the N.R.M. Warehouse, where you could operate the model of the Fell gearbox as in the film, but only a rudimentary label of course.

    Em Gauge layout

I haven't tried the EM Gauge site yet, I am a member by the way, and as the space is ruffly square I was thinking on a continuous run layout. Steve.

    Em Gauge layout

Since moving to the South east I haven't had an EM Gauge layout, so I am looking for a layout that could possibly fit into a 8ft square space or thereabouts. Steve.

    Shawplan

Yes, delete the telephone No. if your not going to answer it, and reply to emails, I try to within a few days. Steve. By the way I have got around using his etches by fabrication or making resin castings of what I need!
